It would certainly be nice to be able to employ a script that can pull newly collected control from our SDE database. I am curious why the schemas for the cadastral reference and for parcel fabric control are so much different when they both are part of the same info model (LGIM). I'm wondering the same thing about field mapping; is there an easier way to do this, rather than using a staging gdb to change the fields? Is there a script for publishing or preparing control from the cadastral reference for use in the fabric? I must be missing something. Justin McCulloch GIS Analyst Wood County, OH

I know this has been addressed in the Meetups already, but I can't seem to find the right video; is there a resource or trick to drawing circles in the fabric when editing? When I create two equal parts (ex: S0E 70(rad) 140(chord), N0W, 70(rad), 140(chord)) the COGO in the parcel details dialogue always inverts the curve and I am left with just an overlapping curved line. Like this...) Is there anyone or anything that can help explain circles a little better, or even curves in general? Justin

Hey, With regard to the parcel fabric, does anyone know a way to have the Parcel Remainder tool automatically set the symbology template value for the newly created 'Historical' parcels to something other than 'Unaccounted'. It would be nice if I could get historical parcels to automatically be set as 'Retired Tax Parcels', since 90% of the time that's what they are. I'm not sure if this is the type of thing anyone else has endeavored to do, but it would make the workflow that much faster for our editors. On the same topic, I would like to be able to get other fields to automatically update as well. For 'legal start date' and 'legal end date' we use the date of transfer, which is almost always also the recording date. Well, since we punch the legal start date into the new parcel construction and then typically run a remainder on the parent parcel(s), it would be convenient if the 'legal start date' value for the new parcel was carried over to the 'legal end date' field for the historical parcel that gets created during the remainder. Let me know if any of you folks have had the same inclination as me. Regards, Justin McCulloch Wood County Ohio Auditor's Office

Hey Folks, I'm wondering if anyone is currently using a land-hooks feature class in their fabric geodatabase. We had a layer in our old taxmap and I am looking for an easy way to bring in the geometry. Any ideas? Justin McCulloch

Hey thanks, I will give it a try on a copy of my fabric next week and let you know what I find. Also, I thought I heard there was an add-in that is literally called "Delete Orphan Points." If anyone has info. on this tool let me know. Justin McCulloch

I have heard about a tool that will remove orphaned points from my fabric dataset. Where can I find this tool and how does it work? Justin McCulloch

Hey Folks, I don't normally have to deal with changing my 'basis of bearing' but I just went to do it and noticed my "General" tab is missing from the Parcel Editor/Options, leaving me no way to view my parcels in a local coordinate system. Is this an installation error or what? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Justin McCulloch Wood County Auditor's GIS

Hey All, Here??s a question for others who have had experience with a sometimes troubling join process. Has anyone else had problems with properly joined parcels being ??dislodged? from their desired location in the fabric after reopening them? This happens to me only if I save a change I have made, but I commonly need to do this when adding a plan to an existing parcel. The only way I know (to add a plan) is to reopen the parcel and use the plan dropdown to choose the appropriate plan. I have tried to add a plan in other ways, but it seems you are not able to just edit the ??PlanID?? filed manually in the parcel ??Attributes?? window (or in the Tax Parcels attribute table) after creating your desired plan. This is especially frustrating (and common) when reopening a parcel containing a curve. The thing is, even when I try to rejoin the parcel, I can never get it to rejoin correctly without some gap or overlap being created. Justin McCulloch Wood County, OH

Depending on the County/State you live in it shouldn't be too hard to obtain some more recent aerial imagery to help you along with the digitization process. Try asking your local county government for a copy of their aerials; they should usually be able to copy them over to a DVD (possibly for a price). If you have already tried asking your local county office for their ortho-imagery, check to see if there is a state website dedicated to disseminating geographic information of this kind. In Ohio, there is statewide imagery available at the OGRIP website: http://ogrip.oit.ohio.gov/ Good Luck! Justin McCulloch

I have also run across this problem. It would also be nice to have an option to transfer the new COGO attributes to the older curve value for the adjacent parcel (assuming they are supposed to be the same). Another thing is, if you are joining one single unbroken curve to several smaller curves from multiple adjacent parcels, it would be difficult to get a proper gapless join. There may be a need for a new workflow around this problem. Justin McCulloch Wood County GIS
