Mike, I'm with you! This doesn't seem to work in 10.1, although it did in 10.0. Now the clipping options referenced take out all other features outside the data driven page polygon features, instead of highlighting them as before. Here's a page done previously, with a nice highlight of the current feature. Then, take a look at this one with the current set of polygons that I'm cycling through, but you can't tell which one is the selected one for the current page. Edit after finding solution: You've got to make a duplicate copy of the index layer, then in the Properties / Definition Query set a Page Definition and change the attributes of the layer to make it as visible as you'd like.

ArcGIS Desktop 10.1, trying to print a data driven file, 279 pages long to a network printer. I've printed it before w/10.0, but now getting this message: "Not enough memory to create output memory band. Try reducing Output Band Size" What does this mean? This is a new notebook w/4 Gb RAM, and I've printed this same file before w/10.0 using this machine. I was able to export to pdf, but wanted to print a copy directly from the mxd. OK, the answer from DOT is: "no, a font has not been developed." Their suggestion is that I take the vector version of the signs shown in the MUTCD and create symbols. Didn't want to have to do that, but I've started. So, for now, looks like the issue is on hold for an easy way out.

We're doing some work now that includes placing correct symbol for highway signs on maps. The signs being used match the US Dept of Transportation's 2009 MUTCD with Revisions 1 and 2, May 2012 (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices). I'm not finding any font or style set that has even a good assortment of these, and really don't want to have to go through creating bitmaps of all needed signs to create custom picture-image symbols. Any cartographers within the Federal Highway Administration working on this? As an aside, I'm working with recreational symbols right now, and have found that the brown background standard color to be used is Pantone 469, which translates into RGB 96 51 17 in ArcMap symbols. This is from ESRI US Forestry 1, Basic Latin, with background color modified. Anybody else have a solution?

I've found it easiest (for me, anyway) to just make a duplicate .mxd, turn off the data driven pages and zoom to the full extent of the map book, shoot that to a pdf and use it for the cover of the map book. I just put my title info, date, etc into this version of the .mxd.

I know I've done this is the past . . . have an mxd with a layer thematically displaying based on values in a spreadsheet to which it's been joined. When I publish, the joined fields are gone, as well as the rendering. Just applied SP4 to both ArcGIS Desktop (View) and ArcReader. Any ideas? Here's my data: http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=2b434536ec9f4ec5a67f02509ea2c36f

I've had ArcMap 10 w/Publisher installed for several months, but just now did a "Publish" on a map. When I double-click the .pmf to launch Reader, I get this window/message: Application Not Installed The appropriate application for the file selected is not currently installed on the system. If you have the product installed you may be missing an extension. Application: ArcReader File Type: ArcReader Published Map File Anyone know why it won't open - I enabled Open with All Applications in the Publisher Setup, but still get the message - won't even open the .pmf in ArcMap.

The ability to create a text index of streets showing the page/grid they're in is critical to the many map books I make/maintain. Since it appears Data Driven pages won't do this, has anyone come up with a reasonable (i.e. quick and no additional cost) alternative? I'm suspecting there's no way to make DSMapBook run in ArcMap 10, which I've now switched over to - am I right on that?
