With the caveat I posted above: 1. In field calculator, switch the parser to Python. 2. Double click your field in the list to enter it in the calculation box. 3. Click = 4. Doubleclick your field again. 5. Add this to your field in the calculation box, no spaces between the fieldname and the following: [:-5] 6. Click Ok. Maybe try this on a copy of your data first, just in case. Does this look correct? !OWN_ADD_L2! = !OWN_ADD_L2![:-5]

Python parser >>> a = "MAPLE GROVE MN 55369-3466" >>> b = a[:-5] >>> b 'MAPLE GROVE MN 55369' >>> with appropriate changes for the field name So what if I want to delete the last 5 characters of every record in a field?

I have a layer with ~50 polygons. I am trying to label only one of them at a time in my DDP. Each map shows some of the other polygons but I only want to label the one that is being referenced. I am using a text symbol for labeling. Here is the code that has worked before. Function FindLabel ( [MapTitle] ) FindLabel = "^" End Function The text symbols attachment is what the symbols are that I am using (ESRI Default Marker Symbols). I have a field in my layer called "MapTitle" and am using that to name each page. The Big Rice WMA attachment is what I want to do. What it is doing right now is labeling all of the polygons in my layer.

In Data Driven pages I am trying to have the label for each record in my shapefile only show when the DDP for that record is displayed. In the map below you will notice that the WMA Unit in MGD is labeled with a red star and the others that are around that one is not labeled (see legend). I used to use the Zoom and Export tool created by Ben Buja. This tool does not work in 10 with the DDP.
