Growing our Industry with Awards and Surveys

Blog Post created by JRosales_GIS on Apr 14, 2018

Seems like we are always very proud of our accomplishments, but we don't talk about them as much as we should. Partly because we don't want to display our vanity in an impolite manner. Realistically speaking, this behavior is archaic. We should take more time to celebrate the good times, and understand how they contribute to our industry.

Celebrating the Awards

Bringing awareness to your accomplishments allows others to learn about how your journey led to the grand destination. It allows you to inspire others to strive for excellence. Maybe we'll determine that we need more training or maybe just to validate our skills with a certification. Regardless of the journey, celebrating the destination may encourage other professionals to join or industry. Take time to celebrate your achievements and those of your colleges --- after all, it's good for our industry. Take time to celebrate your achievements and those of your colleges --- after all, it's good for our industry.

Participating in Surveys

Measuring the awareness and adoption of our industry specific software and qualified technicians with a survey is a great way to view a moment in time within our industry. But, it can't happen without your participation. As the invisible hand leads, the survey captures the people's perspectives of why these changes are happening. Often times we simply feel that we don't have 20 minutes to participate. If you don't participate, how will we know if our contributions to the industry mean anything? Participation allows us to know which software will provide a competitive advantage, which training will maximize our learning, and which organizations will appreciate and celebrate our achievements. Take time to participate in a survey or create one of your own --- after all, its good for our industry.

Our Industry

We are a community of leaders. We must stand together, collaborate together, and grow together to shape our industry as a reflection of our greatness. Let's take time to grow ourselves by celebrating our awards and participating in surveys. Please take the time to brag a bit. Leave a comment describing your achievements or a survey that requires participation.
