Does anybody know the purpose of the new "packages folder" in the 10.1 advanced settings dialog box? Sarah, At 10.1 you have the ability to save a Workflow Manager Package (WPK) directly to ArcGIS Online or to your local computer. When saving these packages locally, the "packages folder" is the default location. Take a look at the Sharing Workflow Manager Packages help article for more information. Hope that helps! Ashley, Check out the help document on the ArcGIS Viewer for Flex URL Parameters here. Through URL parameters you can specify a particular configuration file, a web map from ArcGIS Online, or the map starting location/scale. The best way to accomplish certain layers on/off is probably through separate config files with those layers enabled/disabled. Then just specify in your URL which of those config files to open. Hope that helps! Jeremy

The "Automatically executes when reached" option is to be used when you have multiple steps stringed together that have an execution type of something other than procedural. For example, if you have a Create Version step followed by a send Notification step, you might want to execute both with only one click. To do so, you have to set the "Automatically executes when reached" property to true on each and then click the Auto-Run button: . The "Automatically executes when reached" property only executes that step if the Auto-Run button has been selected. Hope that helps! Best, Jeremy

For everyone who is still using 9.3.1: What Jeremy suggested is for version 10 only. You can??t do it in 9.3.1. I am waiting for version 10? Learner Yes, sorry for the confusion there. As you mentioned, the functionality that I described is specific to Workflow Manager 10, not JTX 9.3.1. Unfortunately, you can only be connected to a single JTX Repository with JTX Configuration Manager. Similarly, there is no way to export individual configuration elements like a single workflow. The Administrator application was completely rebuilt at version 10, so it's a bit of a different experience...but much easier! Best, Jeremy

In addition to exporting the entire system configuration to a JXL file in Workflow Manager Administrator, you can also export individual configuration elements to their own JXL files. Simply right-click the workflow you have created and select "Send to > Configuration File". This process writes the configuration file locally so that it can later be imported into another instance of Workflow Manager. Also, if you have added connections to multiple Workflow Manager instances in your Workflow Manager Administrator application, you can also send a Workflow directly from one instance to another by right-clicking and selecting "Send to > [name of other WMX instance]". Hope that helps! Jeremy

Hi Mary Ellen, No matter whether you're using JTX 9.3.1 or Workflow Manager 10, any custom steps that are called from the desktop application need to be registered with each user's computer. The custom steps that have been registered with your machine are those that show up in the Workflow Manager Administrator application when you attempt to configure a new Step Type that uses a Custom Step Object. Anytime you install Workflow Manager/JTX the SDK is also installed. On a 64-bit machine you can find this at C:\Program Files (x86)\JTX\Developer Kit. Included here is the Desktop Developer help as well as sample code for custom steps. Best, Jeremy

Hey Hadas, The steps that you have described are actually Product Library custom steps. More info on these steps is available in the Product Library Help Documentation. Hope that helps! Jeremy

Hey Kubilay, I'd recommend checking out the AOI Edit Extension feature of Workflow Manager in the Help Documentation. The use of this feature is similar to what you have described in order to prevent/warn users from accidentally doing work outside of their assigned area. Hope that helps! Best, Jeremy

Hey Tim, Hope things are going well for you and the team. Here's some additional insight. The CleanUp step that comes with WMX has three arguments: /v /m /a. These are all optional and represent the cleanup of the job version, the mxd, and the attachments. You could have three separate cleanup steps that removes each of these items separately if you wanted to. It is important to be careful with using the VersionExists step. This step does not actually look and see if there is a database version in your Data Workspace. Instead, it looks at the WMX tables in order to determine if WMX is aware of a Job Version. If you delete a job's version using the CleanUp step, WMX will automatically become aware that the Job's Version no longer exists. However, if you delete the Job Version using ArcCatalog, WMX is not aware and the VersionExists steps will still return 'True'. So far as closing jobs is concerned, there is a WMX System Setting to automatically close jobs when the workflow is complete. This is set on by default: Best, Jeremy

Let me try to address a few of your bullets where I can. 1) Does your SMTP server allow anonymous SMTP messages to be sent? Do you have anti-virus software installed? If your answer to both of these is yes, you may need to make sure that there are no settings in your Anti-Virus that prevent these type of messages from being sent - McAfee does have a setting that will prevent your client computers from sending "bulk" email in an attempt to stop phishing scams. You can also change the Workflow Manager log level to 5 and check the log files to ensure that the email message is being properly constructed behind the scenes. If these items don't resolve it for you. I can pass along a python script that will attempt to send emails via anonymous SMTP - this will help us identify whether the issue is with your SMTP server/settings. 2) The workflow actions become active when a job that is selected is assigned to that particular user. 3) Are you referring to the assignment as it appears in the job listing grid? If so, this list is only refreshed as you click on the Job Queries on the left-hand side of the application. 4) Assigning to a group allows a user of that group to assign it to an individual within that group or to themselves (assuming they have those privileges). In order to actually run the workflow steps, the job must be assigned to an individual. 5) In the workflow you can right-click a previous step and select "Set as Current Step" 😎 Do the system times of your Database Server match those of your client machines? I hope this helps to answer some of your questions!! Best, Jeremy

Keilla, It is also possible to send emails via python :). You could always have your step run some python code that builds your notification emails for you. There are some code samples floating around the web that show the process for sending emails using an authenticated SMTP such as Gmail or Hotmail. Check out this example: http://kutuma.blogspot.com/2007/08/sending-emails-via-gmail-with-python.html Best, Jeremy

Hey Alison, This might be a silly question, but are you able to make a database connection to your SDE repository that contains the WMX schema with the same username/password as in your JTC file? It is definitely possible to manually create the service from the .cfg file or create it through ArcCatalog, so the issue sounds like it is more on the database permissions side of things.
