Hey Anthony, You'll be glad to know that we did in fact split those operations into two separate role privileges. When creating a custom role, "Manage categories" under "Administrative" > "Members" will allow a user to create/edit/delete the category schema for the organization. The "Update" privilege under "Administrative" > "Members" will allow a user to assign/unassign categories to members in the organization. The privilege descriptions should be updated here to reflect the two changes mentioned above as well -> https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/reference/roles.htm#ESRI_SECTION2_DE533C0ED3D546E1BA5B47C8719D3BED Thanks again for your feedback on all of this. It has been invaluable to us and we look forward to more ideas! -Jacob

Hey Anthony, As of today you should see a few changes in ArcGIS Online to meet the feedback you've provided here: We've added new role privileges so that it is now possible to create a custom role with the ability to both manage member categories for the organization and categorize organization members. We have added a section to specify member categories when you're inviting/adding members to your organization. We have added a "No categories assigned" filter in the members tab for. We have added a "Member Categories" column to the member report We're continuing to work through some additional ideas related to member categories, but wanted to give you a heads up on the latest enhancements. -Jacob

It should be possible for users to create a new password by going through the "Forgot password" workflow outlined here -> https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/get-started/sign-in.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_9FCB7A57079543F0A137CD5791904DCE

Hi Deidra, Thanks for the reply with additional information, very much appreciated. At this point it would be encouraged to reach out to support services here at Esri -> Esri Support Contact Support If the new member default settings work properly when going through a manual invitation process then you may need to dig into what might be happening with the SSO configuration. Your ITS department may need to be a part of those conversations as well. Kind regards, -Jacob

Hi Deidra, Apologies for the inconvenience you're running into, just a couple of questions and quick troubleshooting strategies. First off, with regard to SSO, is it set up so that students can automatically join the organization or do you send out an invitation to the students to sign in using their enterprise login? Second, as a quick workaround, are you still able to manually apply the Pro extensions by going to the members tab > selecting the affected members > managing their add-on licenses? Here's the step by step documentation on this strategy -> Manage licenses—ArcGIS Online Help | Documentation Third, does this only happen for users that are invited to the org using SSO? If you go through the manual process of inviting a new member to your org, doe the Pro extensions set in the new member defaults "stick" with that process? Here's the documentation -> Invite and add members—ArcGIS Online Help | Documentation Thanks for your time, looking forward to your reply. -Jacob

Hey Micheal, Glad to hear you got this resolved with technical support. Regarding licensing, the relationship between My Esri and ArcGIS Online is explained here: https://community.esri.com/community/education/blog/2018/10/09/what-is-the-difference-between-my-esri-and-arcgis-accounts So with My Esri you can manage your ArcMap/Desktop licensing and downloads, and ArcGIS Online is utilized to handle your SAAS (software as a service) licenses through the licenses tab: https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/administer/manage-licenses.htm If you have any other questions about My Esri or licensing for your account, your customer service rep should be able to point you in the right direction.

Hey Michael, At this point it might be advisable to reach out to Technical Support as you've run into a number of different issues. Though, when you're signed in to ArcGIS Online within ArcMap, can you check the ArcCatalog tab to see if you have a "My Hosted Services..." folder like this?

Hey Michael, If you have the Administrator role for your ArcGIS Organization then you definitely have the privileges needed to create and publish content. As for the server connection, did you make sure to sign in to your organization within the File menu in ArcMap first? Make sure you go to File > Sign In and sign in with your administrator credentials first. Then go through these steps: File > Share As > Service Publish a service > Next Choose a connection > Click the drop down > choose "My Hosted Services ("your organization name")" Then follow the rest of the steps in the documentation to set up and publish your service.

Hey Michael, are you able to share your shapefile for testing purposes? Another thing to try is to publish your shapefile directly from ArcMap. Simply open a blank map document, then go to File > Sign In to sign in to your ArcGIS Online account. Then, add your shapefile to the map and follow the publishing instructions in the following documentation: https://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/latest/map/publish-map-services/publish-to-portals.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_2AB8244E455F4764805BC46C6E5C1B45 Do know that you will need the privileges to create content in ArcGIS Online in order to publish hosted services -> https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/reference/roles.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_4FF9051EFB814C249AB26B0ACFF7C79F

Have you tried clearing your browser cache or trying a different browser altogether? I'd say start out with the browser cache and see if that resolves the issue. If the issue persists we can continue with some other troubleshooting steps. -Jake

Hi Sharon, Unfortunately a maximum of 5 hours is set for drive time polygons in ArcGIS Online, and that limitation is documented here: Create Drive-Time Areas—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS In this particular case, Network Analyst may be the only viable alternative to obtaining a drive time polygon that covers more than 5 hours of travel..

Hey Zac, Good question, and the answer depends on how you have the group shared and who you want to be able to see the content in the featured content section of the home page. Do you want the public to be able to access the home page of your organization and have access to the maps in the featured content section? If that is the case, make sure the maps and the content in the maps are both shared to the public. Then, make sure that only the maps are also shared to the group that will be used for featured content on the home page. The group must also be shared to the public as stated here: https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/administer/configure-home.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_766BF2D04A004D3C9147745F2AAF7AED When set up this way, public users can access the home page and see only the maps in the featured content section, but will still be able to open the maps because they, along with the relevant content, are shared to the public. Here are the above sharing settings condensed: Group -> Public can view Content in Map -> Public Map -> Public and Group used for featured content Let me know if that works out on your end or if there are any issues and we can address them from there. Kind regards, -Jake
