Hello James Tedrick, I am now running into the same error but with a survey being loaded for the first time. (No changes to field names). The survey survey is built using Collector and I'm getting the error even with the default template created by Survey123. I've attached the xls form for the survey along with the two look up files stored in the media folder. I've searched for key words and anything else I could think of. The survey works as expected but the report simply can't be created. I've also tried creating reports with only one or two of the fields from the principal table and the same error occurs. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming that you want the load from the csv to be a one time data load. If this is true you can. It's a couple of steps and not altogether straight forward but works really well once you have it figured. First. You will need to load the main table with all the trees. You then create a look up (in excel or elsewhere) that has a comparison between the GlobalID for the tree and the unique ID you reference in your surveys. Secondly, you will create a GeoJSON load file for each of the inspections (make sure you use the name not the alias of the fields in your repeat table). The lookup will be needed at this stage to ensure the Parent Global ID is referenced. I've done this a number of times and it works quite well. Good Luck

It is the square brackets around your list name. A select_one should look like this select_one Status. You will want to remove the square brackets from all of your lists.

Hi Phil, Thank you for the quick response. That was what I was afraid of. It's the answer I expected as I'd done a fair bit of testing first but not the one I hoped for. really wanted a magic wand for this one. Anyway, I can make it work! Thanks, Ingrid

I have a number of surveys which use the relevant functionality. I would like to transition some of them into surveys which allow for the updating of information now that the data has been collected. However, I am finding that if a relevant function is applied to a question the existing data is not populated. It appears to be a situation where the data from a feature is loaded into a survey where possible. If a relevant question is initial hidden the existing data will not appear even after the relevant criteria are met. Specifically, I have a survey where the user can update the features of an asset for a number of reasons. If works have been carried out they are allowed to update some fields. If they are doing a principal inspection they can update all of the fields. However, I don't know what kind of inspection they are doing until they start... So, questions are initially hidden because the correct type of inspection has not been selected. I don't want to show all the questions all the time as that removes a significant amount of elegance to the solution. Is there any way to get the survey to retrieve the values after the feature service has loaded from the inbox? Thank you

Hi Debs, You would definitely need to change the syntax. I'm not 100% certain to what. The photo is treated as an attachment and therefore there isn't actually a field. The only way I've done photos that is similar is with a secondary field as well. I always have a caption field with my photos so mine look like. ${if cap_photo1} ${img_photo1 | size:300:0}${/} That will put the caption before the image but only shows both if the caption has been filled in. Sorry, I'm not sure what else you could do with the photo option.

Hello Debs, I've done this type of setup in reports when using select one questions to filter sections of the report or individual questions. I've never done it just with answered or not but I've tested this syntax today and it worked for me. The condition you have looks correct but you can put it around the whole question as long as you qualify the response. Format would be something like this: ${if SiteName != ""} What is the name of this location? ${SiteName}${/}

Agree with Adilson. The external select is your best option there. Keep in mind it works really well especially for really large select lists but it is a little slower so you need to balance if the initial pain of the set up is worth the users delay later on

I have a survey with a customised template. The survey has a few repeat sections but no nested repeats. However, a significant component of the survey is the update of existing feature service data. In order to track changes I have a repeat section that only allows Adds within the parameters. It is used to identify the user who is working on the data at that time, the sections they wish to update (which controls the read-only function) and identifies one of three reasons for the update. What I would like to do is when printing off a report to only include the last record in the repeat. Thereby having a title page which outlines the last date and user to update that feature. Is this possible?

For the page names there isn't a way as far as I've ever seen to add the name beside the page counter. The best you can do is a header at the top of the page. You can hide pages by making them relevant based on a question in your survey.

I've done it from Excel a few times. As long as you aren't dealing with attachments and repeats (related tables) excel can be pretty fast and I find it works better for some of my purposes than ArcPro (especially if I'm loading a large number of features >3,000). What I do is open my excel table and use a formula to convert the rows into GeoJSON. Example: ="[" & CHAR(10) & " {" & CHAR(10) & " " & CHAR(34) & "attributes" & CHAR(34) & " : {" & CHAR(10) & " " & CHAR(34) & "OBJECTID" & CHAR(34) & ": " & D2 & "," & CHAR(10) & " " & CHAR(34) & "Observation_pt" & CHAR(34) & ": " & CHAR(34) & R2 & CHAR(34) & "," & CHAR(10) & " " & CHAR(34) & "TPB_date" & CHAR(34) & ": " & (J2 - DATE(1970,1,1)) * 86400000 & CHAR(10)& " }," & CHAR(10) & " " & CHAR(34) & "geometry" & CHAR(34) & " : {" & CHAR(10) & " " & CHAR(34) & "x" & CHAR(34) & ": " & S2 & "," & CHAR(10) & " " & CHAR(34) & "y" & CHAR(34) & ": " &T2 & CHAR(10) & " }" & CHAR(10) & " }," Subsequent rows need the formula to be tweaked slightly as the first [ is not needed. The final row needs a carriage return and a ]. This will format all of your excel into a GeoJSON. From there you can use the append in ArcGIS Online in the feature service Service URL. It's not as straight forward as ArcPro but it works really well. If you have attachments and related tables the process still works but there are more steps. However, if you didn't download a GDB this will definitely help.

I have an immensely complicated survey built using Survey123 Connect version 3.3. I have published it and it is working as expected. In the Survey123 website I have used the Collaborate tab to share with a group for Submitting. However, when I try to share it with the same group (or any other group) for Viewing I get an error message. I have tried using Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox to see if the browser affected it to no avail. The error message I am receiving is Everything else seems to be working. I don't want to have my users start actively using the survey if there is an underlying issue which will prevent them from running reports on the collected data or being able to view the data. Any assistance would be appreciated. I have attached the full survey folder to this email. Thank you

Thanks James. Not quite as streamlined as I was hoping but that will work. I actually set it up as read-only this weekend as a test and figured that might be the only way to go for now. Really appreciate you coming back to me on this. Thanks!

Hi Christian, Okay, you have several options here. You can add your csv as a feature layer and then create a survey based on the existing Feature Service. This will require you enabling the inbox and editing from there. If you want to use the pull data function that will work as well. Your problem with the pull data is you are trying to pull all the data in one field. It doesn't do that. So, rather than that you need to make a few changes. First, your calculation won't work as you are trying to use the label and not the name in your csv file. You need the asset_type in your csv to be the same as the name column in your csv. Otherwise it will never find a match. Second for each row in your xls where you want to pull data you need a separate pulldata calculation in the calculation column . For example the calculation for the city row would be pulldata('assets_from_excel', 'city', 'asset_type', ${asset_type}). The type of question can remain a text row but I would question if this is what you want. Do you want them to be able to write over what is pulled from the csv? If not you need to consider setting the question as read only or changing it to a calculation type with a note type following showing the value or simply as a note type where the data would then not be stored in the table. It can get quite convoluted (which is due to the power of Survey123) but it becomes really important to think about why you are pulling the information. Additionally, if you have 100s of records do they all have the same city, zip coce, address... It looks like you may be pulling data too early. Do you maybe need a csv of churches etc? and be pulling data based on the asset_name instead? Just a thought. Good luck!

Hi James, Thank you. They are relevant they just are only relevant if a select_one answer in the repeat is specifically chosen. Does it need to be relevant right off the top? The idea is the answers need to be updated but only for specific types of visits. Different information is updated for different visit types.
