Hello, I need some guidance for Indexing with Archiving enabled. I am getting an error to apply a unique index to a table with Archiving enabled. I understand that in the Data Base there is a duplication of the ID because of Archiving. Any help with the three questions below would be awesome. What is the best practice for indexing a table with Archiving? Does indexing index the whole table or just the un-archrived values (ex: GDB_TO_DATE = xx/xx/9999)? edit: I looked at the Object ID index and it is not unique, so I am assuming indexing works at the database level. If I make a unique Index with multiple values like unique_Id+GlobalID+GDB_TO_DATE does this help the performance of joins where only the unique_id is used? Or can I only index one column ex: just the unique_Id to help performance of a join? Regards, Jim

Hello, We have a 10.7 server set up. I am trying to edit features in webmap viewer using a published feature service. In the web map I cannot edit features that are in feature data set, but I can edit features from the same database and feature service that are not in a feature dataset. The only difference is they are not in a feature dataset. Anyone have any ideas on why a feature dataset would stop a feature from being edited using a feature service. Service has "apply default to features with z-values" and editing features "Allow geometry updates without m-values" enabled. Regards, Jim

Hello, We have a federated enterprise system set up. I am having an issue where I am getting a 401 unauthorized error when I try to access content that is shared with a user through a group. This does not seem to be a user permissions issue, because this happens even when I am using a log in that has access to everything. This really enters an area where I am limited in my knowledge. Does anyone have input on where I would find settings that would deal with security and groups. Secondly what is an enterprise group? When in Portal administrator I get "enterprise group may not have been configured" when searching for groups. We have many groups in our Portal. Regards, Jim

RPGIS, The related assets mostly are just tables with information. Asset maintenance and information ect... The main assets we are splitting are lines. So a single line that needs to be separated into three lines. All the relationships of the original line need to be maintained for historical reason. Just looking for ideas on the ideal set up for this. First time of many times we will be doing this so want to have a simple and logical process. Thanks for the help. Regards, Jim

Josh, To clarify objectID 1 would be retained, but just one part of the now three parts. The asset is not abandoned because in the real world it still exists. I understand what you are saying. You would make three new parts and retain the original part but just flagged as a "archived" asset. All the relationships are many to many so I can re-establish the relationships. This is not a bad option, we may use it. Thank you Josh.

Hello, We are updating an asset and need to take one feature and split it into two or more features. The original feature is not being “abandoned” because it still exists, just split into may parts. This asset has many attached records so the relationship between the attached records and the asset needs to be maintained. Does anyone have a best practice for this process? My two best options are: • Make an old ID column and add the original ID in there for all the new features. • Update the original asset, then update all the attached records to attach to only the original asset. Any ideas would be appreciated. Regards, Jim

Karrie-Ann Martian, I am not sure about text in a widget, but often text tags can format text.The link below is for labels and annotation, but it does say it often works in many formats. Might have to dig some but it may do simple colors. https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/mapping/text/text-formatting-tags.htm Hopefully this gets you on the right path

Hello, I am looking to return the last feature in a feature set. I can do this with the first record in a feature set, but I am unsure how to return other features from the feature set. Like the second record in a feature set. var manholes = FeatureSetByName($datastore, 'Nodes', ['IN_1_EL'], true)
var intersecting = Intersects($feature, manholes)
var count_check = Count(intersecting)
if (count_check > 0) {
return first(intersecting).IN_1_EL
}
else {
return $feature.Down_Inv
} Anyone know how to access the second value in a feature set? Regards, Jim

Hello Robert, Thank you for the reply. I thought that might be the case that is why I was hoping for a tool or a approved method to do this. Maybe I will have to submit this as an idea to esri. All the required components seems to be there to restore a specific record. Regards, Jim

Hello, A user has deleted some data. The current feature class has archiving enabled. I can find the data in the Archived class, but I am unsure how to go about updating the record so it can be marked as current. In theory I can do this by updating the GDB_TO_DATE to mm/dd/9999. Which should mark the record as the most recent record. First can you edit the data in an archived feature class? Second is there a tool or a built in process to "recover" the deleted records? Regards, Jim

Hello, I am looking to do a one-way replication, we currently have just Archiving enabled for all the feature classes/tables and they all have GlobalIDs. This is going from a SDE SQL database to a file geodatabase.I keep getting a "ERROR 000769: cant create replica because none of the data can be replicated." Is this because you have to have versioning enabled? The documentation is not very clear it makes it sound like you can do one-way replicas with only archiving enabled? regards, Jim

Hey Johannes, Thanks for the reply super helpful. I am surprised the only option that worked was making the date text. Nothing else seemed to work. Might follow up with ESRI to see if this is a known bug. Below is what worked when filtering with dates. var current_year = Text(Date(Year(Now()), 0, 1), "Y-MM-DD")
var sql = "GRID_NUM = @quad AND MMS_Date_Turning >= date @current_year" Thanks, Jim

Hello, I am stuck here. I need to filter a feature set by a date a value. I set up this up but on lie 7 for the "cnt" variable I am getting "Failed to Query statistics", but If I pull out the "AND MMS_Date_Turning >= @current_year" section from my filter it works fine. This query fails: var quad = $feature.Quadrant;
if ($feature.Quadrant != null) {
var current_year = Date(Year(Now()),0,1)
var System_valve_set = filter(featuresetbyname($datastore, 'sValve', ['OBJECTID', 'WATERVALVETURNING_STATUS', 'GRID_NUM', 'MMS_Date_Turning'], false), "GRID_NUM = @quad AND MMS_Date_Turning >= @current_year")
var cnt = count(System_valve_set);
if (cnt > 0 ) {
var query = "WATERVALVETURNING_STATUS = 'Closed'"
var System_closed_valve_set = filter(System_valve_set, query)
var closed_cnt = count(System_closed_valve_set)
if (closed_cnt > 0){
return count(System_valve_set) - count(System_closed_valve_set)
}
else {return count(System_valve_set)}
}
else { return null }
}
else { return null } This query works: var quad = $feature.Quadrant;
if ($feature.Quadrant != null) {
var current_year = Date(Year(Now()),0,1)
var System_valve_set = filter(featuresetbyname($datastore, 'sValve', ['OBJECTID', 'WATERVALVETURNING_STATUS', 'GRID_NUM', 'MMS_Date_Turning'], false), "GRID_NUM = @quad")
var cnt = count(System_valve_set);
if (cnt > 0 ) {
var query = "WATERVALVETURNING_STATUS = 'Closed'"
var System_closed_valve_set = filter(System_valve_set, query)
var closed_cnt = count(System_closed_valve_set)
if (closed_cnt > 0){
return count(System_valve_set) - count(System_closed_valve_set)
}
else {return count(System_valve_set)}
}
else { return null }
}
else { return null } Regards, Jim

Hey Dan, Thank you helping me out again. The first link you shared with me was correct. Removing the comments resolved the issue. Now I just get a error saying it cant find the view. Hello, I see there are a few other questions about his error, but I didn't see anything telling me what the really is causing the issues here. I am using a view in a attribute rule to get a feature set that I use a filter on to get a subset. Can I use a view in a attribute rule, or does featuresetbyname work for a view? What does "Class was not Found%s" mean? Is this a feature class that is not found, are there null values in the attribute rule? var quad = $feature.Quadrant;
if ($feature.Quadrant != null) {
var System_valve_set = filter(featuresetbyname($datastore, 'Valve', ['OBJECTID', 'WATERVALVETURNING_STATUS', 'GRID_NUM'], true), Concatenate(["GRID_NUM = ", quad], ''))
var Valves_Exercised_This_Year = filter(featuresetbyname($datastore, 'Valve_Exercised_This_Year', ['OBJECTID', 'Status', 'GRID_NUM'], true), Concatenate(["GRID_NUM = ", quad], ''))
var cnt = count(System_valve_set)
// make the query for each possible situation where there could be a feature set that is null
if (Valves_Exercised_This_Year != null && cnt > 0) {
var query = "Status = 'Closed'"
var System_closed_valve_set = filter(Valves_Exercised_This_Year, query)
var result = count(System_valve_set) - count(System_closed_valve_set)
return result
}
else { return null }
}
else { return null } regards, Jim
