Awesome! One last question, from a programming standpoint (which I’m not a programmer), I would assume changing the color of a tab or a side panel is fairly easy?

Hi Gregory, Thanks for the info. On a related note, when you download a story map template and customize it, are you able to arcgisonline so others are able to viewing (meaning, using it as a web server.) The reason I ask is, I know you can set you own PC as a web server, but it's nice to be able to publish it via arcgisonline and then sent the link to others so they are able to view it. Thanks, Andy

Hello Gregory, I would like to do the same thing (collapse main side panel) but I do not have any programming experience and was wondering if you would be able to email me a step by step process on how to do this? Can it be something has simply attaching the code? Thanks, Andy

Hello All, This is not really a blog, but I was curious to see what individuals from the Real Estate industry (preferably the commercial side) will be attending the conference this year. The reason I ask is, I would like to hear and I've been tasked by my organization (see personal info below) to get in touch with others in the industry to see what they are doing for their organizations. I really just want to share ideas and etc. Any suggestions or if anyone is interesting in sharing ideas at the UC, that'd be great too. Andrew E. Hi Dan, So you want your demand (potential) to be higher than your supply (sales) correct? This would mean the higher (positive not negative) ‘Retail Gap’ the better for your trade area? Thanks, Andy

Hello, The leakage/surplus is defined by ESRI as followed: The Leakage/Surplus Factor presents a snapshot of retail opportunity. This is a measure of the relationship between supply and demand that ranges from +100 (total leakage) to -100 (total surplus). A positive value represents 'leakage' of retail opportunity outside the trade area. A negative value represents a surplus of retail sales, a market where customers are drawn in from outside the trade area. Now my questions are, do you want a negative number or surplus? So this shows that your trade area(s) is/are thriving or do you want positive number or demand (so this shows your trade area(s) is/are thriving?) Thank you, Andy Henry

Hello, Can you use currency values, such as median household incomes (by census block), for your analysis field (see attached.) If so, how do you determine which values are the highest and/or the lowest by hot spot and not density? What I'm trying to get at is, showing were high median income values are located within a given State by displaying hot areas (spots.) I would prefer not to show densities, but areas of high income vs low income via hot spots and not densities. Thanks, Andy

Gregory, My last question is, once I’ve downloaded the map tour app, customized it, can I upload it to Arcgisonline so I don’t have to run it on my web server? Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my questions. -Andy

The funny thing is when I type this into a web browser http://127.0.0.1/map_tour/ Sometimes it works and others it does not. Is it always http:/127.0.0.1/? Also too, would an app like this require expert programming knowledge - http://storymaps.esri.com/stories/2014/zoo-babies/ we’d like something similar, but with our logos and locations. Thanks, Andy

The same error, (web map or application identifier not specified.) My assumption is, you copy and paste the appid into the index.html file, customize or configure what you need, and I use the same link to view my updates (http://icpre.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapTour/?appid=a0bd53d43fb24a5c9d899106b7b4f957) or does it automatically update the app stored in ‘My Content’ folder on my Arcgisonline account?

Hi Gregory Try this one http://icpre.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapTour/?appid=a0bd53d43fb24a5c9d899106b7b4f957 I’d like to take this web app and customize it some, but more so then what is offered with the build-in editor. It was created through my Arcgisonline account. Thanks, Andy
