@RussRoberts any timeline for this update for polygon labels? My colleague and I are researching elaborate and time consuming work arounds, which we'd happily avoid if this enhancement is close. Thanks!

I completely agree. Since Portfolio is commonly recommended as a replacement for the deprecated Map Series configurable app, the ability to “synchronize map locations” is still needed. The existing setting in Map Series has two outcomes 1) initial location of the first map is applied to all maps and 2) navigation by users in any map is reflected in all maps. The first outcome is achieved in Portfolio by toggling the Define location setting on, but the second outcome is still missing and would be a great enhancement. Please consider!

Response below from Esri Canada support worked great! add the following URL parameter to your Dashboard : #locale=fr-fr. https://<yourURL>/apps/dashboards/4f539791b2f1418cb5403891f1a7be50#locale=fr-ch By adding the URL parameter, the text for the search will reflect the language chosen.

Is it possible to override the default labels associated with the "Select All", "Reset" and "Search" features for category selectors? Similarly, I have a Pie Chart that groups categories less than 3% together into the "Other" category but can't find a way to rename the "Other" label in my chart. I'm creating French alternatives of a few dashboards and would like to translate all occurrences of English. Appreciate any pointers!

It would be great if the “values filtered by previous expressions” filter widget setting could be applied to expressions that use the contains operator. I can see that this capability now exists for the is operator, but when I switch the operator to contains, that setting disappears. Using a predefined list with the contains operator makes for a really great way to work with fields that contain multiple delimited values, but the ability to apply the logic to filter other filters would be great to see!

Hi ESRI Community, I’m not sure if I’ve got a bug, an idea, or if I’m simply missing something obvious but I'm trying to achieve the following: Configure a category selector to list categories from a defined values list, that when selected, display records (in the map and list) that satisfy an expression using the contains operator as well filters the categories listed in my second category selector. I can set the category selector to filter my map and list without issue from the actions tab, but I'm not seeing the option to filter my second category selector that is set up the same way as the first (with a defined values list and a contains operator). I noticed that when I switch the second category selector to obtain its categories from either features or grouped values, I can filter it from the first selector. But this lists the delimited data, not the desired distinct values. Since I have fields with multiple delimited values, the defined values and the contains operator provide a really nice way to work with my data, except between selectors! How can I set an action between selectors that are configured this way?

Thanks @gis_KIWI4. I understand now that ArcGIS Server's Map Services offers more advanced labelling options than ArcGIS Online. It's not possible to do this in AGOL with arcade.

Thanks for the replies. I’m glad the clause set worked for you @BrittanyBurson. Unfortunately in my case, the issue is not that the filter by previous expression functionality isn’t working (it works fine with is (=) clauses), the issue is that I don’t even see the setting to apply it when using contains (like) clauses. I’m thinking it’s a limitation of the many to many relationship here as both of my fields that I’m trying to filter contain multiple values delimited by a semi colon. Hoping for a bug, not a table redesign 😛

I'm looking for help with the filter widget, in particular filtering values by previous expressions. I’d like to set up filters on two fields that contain multiple values delimited by a semicolon. For the first filter, I’d like the user to be able to select one or more options from a list of predefined multiple values and I’d like that selection to filter the available values in the second filter. Is this capability available for contains clause with multiple predefined values? The filter widget documentation seems to imply that it should be, but I’m not seeing the option to do so in the expression builder. When I switch the clause to “is” I do see the option to filter by previous expression, but this won’t work for my field which contains multiple delimited values. Is this expected behavior?

Please add the ability to override layer visibility in Portfolio so that different layers from the same web map can be showcased in various tabs. I am looking into migrating a deprecated classic map series app over to Instant Apps - Portfolio, but the workflow includes creating several redundant maps since duplicate maps are not permitted by Portfolio. In my classic map series app, I embedded the same map in several tabs, but each with different visible layers defined. This capability in Portfolio would simplify the workflow and eliminate the need to publish several redundant maps that have no value outside the application.

@OwenGeo - Greatly appreciated! Here's another post about this Portfolio Template App - Sync Maps - Esri Community And a screen cap of the synchronize map locations setting in the map series builder. For my case, Portfolio will fit like a glove with this capability added.

I’m trying to upgrade my deprecated story map series (tabbed) application to one of the latest templates. I was initially optimistic about the upgrade but the more I dive into this, the more discouraged I’m getting. In my story map series app I have several tabs, each displaying the same map configured to display a single layer. The custom configurations of content setting allowed me to define the visible layers of a map, essentially overriding the layer visibility saved with the map. I’m using the tabbed theme to manage exclusive visibility of layers (one layer per tab) without my users having to fumble around with layer lists and legends. This paired with the “synchronize map locations” setting (initial location of the first map is applied to all maps and navigation by users in any map is reflected in all maps) made for an extremely easy to use viewer. As a replacement, I’ve looked into the Instant Apps Portfolio, Experience Builder, Story Maps, even Dashboards. They each have their strengths, but I’m having a hard time finding a suitable replacement. Here’s what I’ve found: Instant App Portfolio – the template looks like a great solution layout wise, but I’d have to create several maps since the ability to override the visibility of layers doesn’t seem to exist (not a deal breaker) nor does the ability to synchronize the maps so that navigation by users in any map is reflected in all maps (deal breaker). StoryMaps - seems to do map synchronization (or map choreography) well and I can easily replicate the exclusive visibility experience of my original single map by using buttons with actions in a sidecar. That tics both boxes but unfortunately my simple map centric viewer just isn’t translating well into the linear scrolling nature of StoryMaps. Experience Builder - I’d have to create several separate maps each saved with a single layer toggled on since overriding the layer visibility saved with the map doesn’t appear to exist. Then in order to enable map synchronization I’d have configure each map with a zoom action and a pan action to each of the other maps (in my case that’s 112 total map actions!). I really hope that I’ve missed something obvious, but at this point it’s looking like this upgrade will be considerably more work for an inferior product. Please bring back Story Map Series!

Following the retirement notice for Web App Builder, my department is tasked with migrating an ArcGIS Server based app, which was created in WAB, over to an Experience Builder application hosted in ArcGIS Online. Unfortunately, we don’t have access to the server in order to view the backend configuration of the map or app. Just a copy of the data (file geodatabase) and the URL of the public app. An initial snag we’ve hit has to do with replicating a custom label expression that our clients have come to rely on over the past 8 years since the application was launched. The label expression contains both underlined and superscripted text that is consistent with labelling standards for soils series data in order to match the scheme of our published soil survey reports. The following VB label expression snippet was published from ArcMap: "<UND>" + [SOIL_CODE1] + "</UND>" + " " + "" + Left([EXTENT1],1) + "" + vbnewline + [CLASS1] A screen shot of the app below shows the labels displayed as expected in the existing WAB app. But attempts to recreate the labels in an ArcGIS Online map have not been successful. Here’s what we’ve tried: Configuring the labels with the above VB expression in ArcGIS Pro and sharing the map via ArcGIS Pro causes the labels to disappear entirely in ArcGIS Online’s map viewer and map viewer classic. Configuring the labels with the following Arcade expression in ArcGIS Pro and sharing the map via ArcGIS Pro looses the underline and superscript formatting in map viewer and map viewer classic. "<UND>" + $feature["SOIL_CODE1"] + "</UND>" + " " + "" + Left($feature["EXTENT1"],1) + "" + TextFormatting.NewLine + $feature["CLASS1"] Here’s the VB (red) and Arcade (black) expressions working as expected in ArcGIS Pro: But not in ArcGIS Online: Can someone help us understand what we’re missing? Either a) how to replicate the existing labels seen in our WAB app in our new ExB app or b) how/why this was possible to do with our VB/ArcMap/ArcGIS Server/WAB work in 2016, but not today with the current technology Arcade/ArcGIS Pro/ArcGIS Online/ExB?
