As an ArcGIS Online organizational administrator, I would like to know if: 1) it is possible to connect to the underlying ArcGIS Online PostgreSQL database that hosts the hosted feature layers. And in connecting, being able to administrate the database and leveraging database triggers, procedures, functions & scheduled jobs etc... 2) If it is not possible now, are there plans for this to be possible in the future? This is looking from the angle of our business that uses ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server & an underlying ArcSDE SQL Server database/s. The direct administrative access to the SQL Database and capabilities in creating Triggers, Stored Procedures, Functions and Schedule jobs is foundational to the way in which our GIS enterprise operates. However if ArcGIS Online was leaning in this direction, in providing administrative access to the raw PostgreSQL database, at some point in the future then it would be of great interest to us. Perhaps this will not be the case, as I sense the ESRI strategy is to offer similar capabilities that database admin access offers in the AGOL environment (and Portal to follow) but more in the form of: Web hooks Map expressions Python Notebooks If anyone had any insights into this question and discussion that would be great. Cheers, Pat

Hello Alix Vezina We experience this same issue within our ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7.1 Portal environment. Should it be working in 10.7.1 Portal? I assume your fix was applied to ArcGIS Online? Thanks. Great detailed question by Barış Serkan AKIN

Hi Dan, nothing new yet but it's becoming very important to us to be able to copy features from Map Services in the Smart Editor as data is archived from feature services into map services or where data is so big only map services will do from a performance perspective. Would just be far simpler to be able to use map services as source layers instead of feature services for many, many data services. Will post back if we learn anything new.

This is an excellent idea. The suggested idea by could obviously piggyback off the Copy Feature function now in Smart Editor. In regards to copy features use within Smart Editor - as Stefano Toni mentions the copy feature function does not work when trying to select a map service feature. We experience the same thing. Is there anyone who has been able to customize the Smart Editor/Copy Features function so that a Map Service feature can be selected? I assume it is possible as upon the query task on the map service where Return Geometry = True the geometry could be returned as part of the feature set.

As Loretta Loretta Winton has experienced we are also unable to Disable Editor Tracking on our hosted feature layer with ArcGIS Pro. James Tedrick disabling editor tracking is possible with data stored in file geodatabases, ArcSDE etc but it does not seem possible with a ArcGIS online hosted feature layer. Is this the case? The capability to edit the 'Creator' and 'Editor' fields for administrators would be of high value to our organization. A work around is to append data within ArcGIS Pro 'Signed In' as the user you wish to fill the 'Creator' attribute with. However this process is very timely, particularly if you have many unique users that require appending of related data. Not a recommended work around - only if desperate.
