I have a very simple Add Data button in my add-in that's supposed to open a dialog at the InitialLocation property (OpenItemDialog class) set to the directory on our LAN where we keep all our organizations .lyr and .lyrx files. The dialog had been opening to the set InitialLocation on the LAN without fail until we upgraded to ArcGIS Pro 2.2 or 2.2.1 (I can't remember which). Now it opens in the last location the user navigated to, no matter where on the network. Anyone have an idea on what's happening? Right now Pro and the SDK are at 2.2.2 OpenItemDialog addToMap = new OpenItemDialog
{
Title = "Add Data",
InitialLocation = @"C:\",
MultiSelect = true
};

The repeating road labels happen in both maplex and standard label engines. I'm going to go back to maplex. I misspoke when I said configured styles. It is still a placement issue. Like in the first image "MAPLE ST" has two opposite orientations. The building names (also image 1) should only display if they fit completely inside the polygon. Did you just edit the xml file to get your tiling scheme? I was just thinking about breaking the baseman up like that while driving to pick up my daughter. This basemap from Esri that I've used got me thinking about it. Vector tiles look so sharp and they load so quick, but this labeling issue is a pain in the booty.

..and some features in the address point layer just aren't being labeled when they all should be. Ugh...

I'm building a new GIS server on 10.5 & I have been pounding my head against the wall trying to get a basemap cache to work. After failing to get my a standard non-vector tile cache to work with pro (none of the road labels, among others, appear in the tiles) I went to vector tiles. I get all the labels, but not the configured styles. The worst part is some/most of the roads labels are repeating (i.e., labeling every feature). Also some layers that I've set to only label inside polygons aren't working. I changed from maplex to the standard label engine and no change. This is very unfortunate, because Vector tiles seem so awesome. I'm near 100% sold if the labeling can be worked out...and we could configure our own tiling scheme like in ArcMap.

Thanks for the replies. Sorry it took so long for me to back to the thread. I was able to get this to work with the following: subbasinLayer = arcpy.mapping.Layer(subbasinSelection)
arcpy.mapping.AddLayer(df, subbasinLayer, "AUTO_ARRANGE") I spent the good part of 2015 making a whole bunch of custom script tools, some quite complicated. Since then everything I've done with Python has been standalone scripts than run in task scheduler. For some reason I totally forgot all about this. Thanks again.

I have the following code: import arcpy
from arcpy import env
env.overwriteOutput = True
env.workspace = r"PATH\SDE_CONNECTION.sde"
mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument("CURRENT")
df = arcpy.mapping.ListDataFrames(mxd, "")[0]
# Variables
subbasinCode = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(0)
pdfName = subbasinCode + ".pdf"
queryString = "AREA_CODE =" + "'" + subbasinCode + "'"
subbasins = "SDE.SEWERMAN.SUBBASIN"
subbasinSymbol = r"PATH\Subbasin_Selection.lyr"
arcpy.AddMessage(subbasinCode)
arcpy.AddMessage(queryString)
subbasinSelect = arcpy.MakeFeatureLayer_management(subbasins,
"Subbasin_Selection",
queryString)
arcpy.AddMessage(subbasinSelect)
# arcpy.GetMessages()
arcpy.ApplySymbologyFromLayer_management(subbasinSelect, subbasinSymbol)
arcpy.AddMessage("Symbology applied to subbasin selection.")
# arcpy.GetMessages() When I run this code in the python console in ArcMap (hardcode the subbasinCode variable) it runs fine. It replaces the existing Subbasin_Selection layer with the new selection from the MakeFeatureLayer function then applies the symbology. When I create the script tool and run it the original Subbasin_Selection layer is removed from the map but the new subbasin isn't added. The original code was much longer and it would use data driven pages to create a map book and export it based on the subbasin selection. It ran fine a a standalone script. I simplified it to figure out what is going on. Any ideas on why it won't work in a script tool?

Every night a script generates a report and produces and html file as a result. The web page is a small table with 3 columns and 6 rows. Is there anyway I can configure ArcGIS online popups to display this HTML page like you can in in the Layer Properties/HTML Popup dialog in ArcMap?
