Hi - can anyone help please. I have a polygon of the uk which I wish to split into two separate polygons by drawing an arbitrary polyline line across the uk polygon. I have tried variously with split functions but don't seem to be able to find a solution. Thanks......Dave

Dan / Sephe Thank you both - that has fixed it. I unzipped it to a file on my 'I drive' then moved all three components to my C drive. That didn't work. When I unzipped it straight to my C: drive - that worked! Much appreciated Dave

Thanks Seph I added the toolbox in the way you describe - should I have added the 'points along the line' and 'points along the polygon' as well / instead of - are they the scripts?

Thanks Sephe and Dan Dan - I added the toolbox (I thought), I got the error message that the scripts didn't exist - I suspect I have added it wrongly. I did get a dialogue box with sensible parameters to add. Seph - I tried adding the script, I assumed it would sort its own parameters out - it didn't and I got a dialogue with no parameters. Thanks both

Could someone give me some help on getting a toolbox into ARC Desktop 10.2. I have tried many times without success and get various error messages. I simply want to get the following tools into my application so that I can run them on some existing features http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=e19b53170e004e46827b8129d6ef9bfe It is my first time attempting to add custom tools so please feel free to start at a basic level from first principles! I haven't found the online help particularly understandable / useful. Many thanks......Dave

o Hi Richard Thanks very much for getting back to me. Having tried the one line example, I still get an 'ERROR 99999: Error executing function. Syntax error. Failed to execute (CalculateField). I think I have it exactly as you suggest but any further advice would be appreciated. Is it ok as a statement if the Geology1 field is blank (ie will it just leave it blank) The more complex statement I’m afraid won’t work in the general sense because the format of the RCS_X field is very different in many cases. I’m expecting to run the one line statement multiple times. Many Thanks.........Dave

Hi - very new to this so apologies for its simplicity. Arc Desktop v10.2 I'm trying to complete a table field based on (part of) the contents of another field from the same table. I've tried VB and Python. I'm trying to get the contents of a field called 'Geology1' filled as a text string "CLAY, SILT, SAND AND GRAVEL" if another field called RCS-X has a text string "C+S+V+Z". For example. I have tried the field calculator (calculate field) with various forms of the attached. If [RCS_X] = "C+S+V+Z" Then Output = "CLAY, SILT, SAND AND GRAVEL" End If I always get syntax errors. A student with about 10,000 rows of data to process so any help appreciated Thanks Dave
