Thanks to @SaraJL & @PeterKnoop for "getting this topic" started and for replies/more ideas/things to look for by @OwenGeo & @HelenCooper. Similar to @PlantPestSurveillancePROJECT's situation, we have new users joining our organisation and many of these people have somewhat limited existing experience with the whole ArcGIS Online milieu. (The vast majority of our users are students and we have good course material to get them up-to-speed.) I think I'll 1) update our short, introductory “get to know ArcGIS Online” StoryMap (has info on credits, groups, strongly suggested documentation ideas, ArcGIS Pro extensions, overall licensing, how-to access eTraining) with info on the variety of ArcGIS app sites and 2) ensure that all new users get an invite to read it. And, I'll stay-tuned to this thread topic, too. Thanks!

Thanks Owen for your "Changing the story language in the settings" note - I'll try this next time I create/edit a StoryMap, just to "test this idea". I also very much like your "edit the Author" idea. And Mike, re "displaying the last edit date of the data", I don't think there is an automatic manner to do this; however, Owen's idea to "edit the Author name field", above, could certainly work for you! Thanks Owen for your notes and thoughts. You're absolutely right about that workaround. That also provides the possibility in other date formats. For example... Mark Twain - 12 June 2023

It'd be nice to have more options for the subtitle portion of a StoryMap. In this example, I wanted to include more text and more fine-tuned text spacing. I settled on semi-colons as a workaround, but I find them to be "adequate, but not ideal" as a way to separate portions of that subtitle. I think I tried "soft return" (that is shift-enter) instead of semi-colons, but they didn't stick. (FYI - to any reader - soft returns do work quite nicely at other parts of a SM: see the "tightness" of the various bulleted lists throughout the above SM.)

It'd be great to have another option for the date portion of a StoryMap's title block - in this case, for the date of a presentation. That is, a "hard-wired" date. For instance, I could choose "date last edited", "none", or "date of creation of SM". But I wanted another date altogether (without having to edit it on the morning of my presentation).

Hi Jim; In addition to Mike's note, these two pages might be useful: http://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/2012/02/21/using-google-docs-in-your-arcgis-online-maps/ and http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisonline/help/index.html#/About_adding_data_layers/010q0000009v000000/ I have used both for my online maps. Cheers, Dave

Hi; Any web maps that I have with CSV-from-URL work in arcgis.com online webmap, but not in a web application. For instance, this test map (with no CSV, made today) works http://bit.ly/GSSTzc as http://www.arcgis.com/apps/OnePane/azuretwitter/index.html?webmap=56a6b8ab363948518d6775bd854559e4 . When I add a CSV-from-URL, the web application does not work. But my "live, real-data" map (with CSV, last modified 20 Mar) works as http://bit.ly/GK7pLb but not as http://www.arcgis.com/apps/OnePane/azuretwitter/index.html?webmap=1d096c724de7478787f9179cdca39563 The web application had been working, certainly on Tuesday, probably into sometime Wednesday. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Dave (PS: I had been successfully using a bit.ly short URL to "give to" viewers)
