Anyone else experiencing trouble with the print widget in Flex 3.1 this morning? Any of my services fail when trying to print. Below is the error I receive... Chad, When you query numbers you do not use the single qoutes. <value prompt="Example: 52138" isvaluerequired="true">PROP_ID = [value]</value> Thanks again, Robert!

Call me needy but I've been battling this and don't see it. I've read the help file and I'm not finding it there either and I hate to be a bother. The "Owner Name" search is working correctly but the "Property ID" search is not. I thought I've changed it appropriately since it's a numeric field and not a text field but I keep getting an error when I try to process the request. Code's below unless you need more of the block. Good news is the graphical search and buffer issues are gone so I'm almost there. <expressions> <expression alias="Owner Name" textsearchlabel="Search Owner Name [ Example: PUBLIC JOHN Q ]:"> <values> <value prompt="Example: PUBLIC JOHN Q" isvaluerequired="true">upper(file_as_na) LIKE upper('%[value]%')</value> </values> </expression> <expression alias="Property ID" textsearchlabel="Search Property ID [ Example: 52138 ]:"> <values> <value prompt="Example: 52138" isvaluerequired="true">PROP_ID = '[value]'</value> </values> </expression> </expressions>

You have it correct. I wasn't using your widget correctly! I saw the buttons for entirely contained or intersect or envelope and didn't realize you could click that to select the buffer graphic features. Sorry for that; I should've at least attempted to do that before garnering your attentions. Any idea about the parent/child box checking comment from earlier? Thank for you putting up with me!!

Chad, Hmm... You have me wondering what you are talking about exactly, because the graphical serach portion of the widget will buffer a point, polyline, rect, or polygon that you draw. The Spatial Search will buffer what ever type of layer geometry you have have selected based on a text or graphical search run earlier... Sorry for the delayed response Robert (I was out on vacation) and thank you for your reply. Maybe this will clarify. I see where I can show a buffer distance of a selected feature. Is there a way for this buffer to "grab" the polygons the buffer touches and add them to the results window? I can manually trace a polygon and essentially do the operation that way but I was hoping to simplify the process for the end user with only a couple clicks at most. Again, sorry for the late response and thank you again for your help!

Robert, Is there a way through your widget to control the buffer based on a selected polygon and not off the click location? I love the versatility of your widget and was wondering if this was possible through a code configuration in the xml on my side or if would require coding from your end? Also, this relates to your TOC widget, I noticed that it acts like the esri default layers list with respect to checking/unchecking parent/child boxes. Currently I have the mxd project setup with the parent boxes checked so on start up the user only has to check child boxes. The problem I'm having is that if you uncheck any of the parent boxes, it will uncheck all the parent boxes that don't have child layers already checked. This could lead to confusion on the end user. Are you aware of a work around or have you experienced this issue? Thanks in advance! Chad

My boss is reviewing one of our viewers and had a couple comments. I'm sure there's a way to do it with the uncompiled version (which we don't use) but I was curious if it was possible with the compiled version. Here are the comments: 1) Legend widget has too much space between the layer and symbol and then between layers. Can this be compressed? 2) Under "More Data", can the configuration be modified to allow the parent box of a group to auto-check the child boxes? Right now, it looks like you have to check the child boxes and then go check the parent box which is a little tedious if you want to turn on the whole group at once. 3) Also, I'm trying to find the place where to add the cursor coordinates onto the map (lat/lon, DMS, etc) but I haven't found it yet. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks Chad

I can't find where the coding is for this to make it the default street map in my config file; similar to what's below. Any help? <layer type="tiled" label="Streets" icon="https://www.arcgis.com/sharing/rest/content/items/d8855ee4d3d74413babfb0f41203b168/info/thumbnail/tempstreets.jpg" url="http://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/Street_Map/MapServer" visible="true"/>

Thanks Robert, you're always there to help! I didn't notice the difference in the separate container at first but I got it to work. If I could be a pain for just a little more, can your widget perform nested or in a tree (similar to the parent/child look and feel of the local layers widget? I'm looking at eight headings and most have 4-5 links under each so a single list could be cumbersome to scroll through.

Looking for something like what's attached but this won't work for 3.1? I'm not certain who authored it originally but they posted it in the forums for use. I don't code and compile so I'm stuck with free widgets. Wondering if anyone knows of something out there that accomplishes this; I couldn't find anything in my searches. I did find Robert Scheitlin's link widget but it's a single link per widget and what I have has a tree type of list for multiple links within a tree? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks Chad

Hello, I'm not at all versed in Javascript programming so I figured I would ask here and see if y'all could help me. I want to create a "simple" map that utilizes the common street map basemap from esri. There's a couple key points about the map: 1) The map needs to be accessible on several websites that all direct to the same map. I think this is simple; just means giving the same html code or pages to several websites and have them implement. 2) The user will enter their address in a box and the map will locate their property. Again, I think this is simple; there's sample coding on the resources website that does this and I could use. 3) If possible, I would like the address call to request a location query to a feature layer(s) and return results. This can be done through a separate pop-up window or a frame on the same page. The layers would be a map service I create through ArcGIS Server. Any help would be appreciated. This is obviously conceptual in nature and I don't have any code to share yet. If it's not possible, I would prefer not wasting hours to realize it so my hope here is to see if anyone has done something similar and could verify and be available to ask questions along the way of setup. I'm used to setting up Flex websites so I have no idea what I'm doing. Thanks Chad

Ok, thanks. Just for giggles, I renamed the service folder and copied the original out of the box viewer folder and it worked but now it looks like it's holding on to that and not showing any changes I make to those .xml files. The new 10.1 structure is really frustrating me because I'm not used to the architecture and was comfortable with how things worked and since switching over, it seems like all I do is call them. Thanks for checking it for me.
