Hi Braden, Thanks for your suggestion, in the interim we do allow published reports to be updated by a scheduled update task, see help link below: https://doc.arcgis.com/en/insights/latest/share/schedule-updates.htm The schedule task can be set Hourly, Daily or Monthly, based on the nature of how the data is changing. This ensures published reports are kept up-to-date at controlled intervals, while making sure server resources usage is kept low so not to affect the performance of the enterprise sever. We try to avoid sharing data by reference for data security reasons. But If your enterprise does not have such concerns, I can understand that having the ability to enable sharing data by reference would be very desirable. Thanks again for your contribution Chaka

Hi @AnthonyRyanEQL , Sorry for the delay in answering this question, ArcGIS Enterprise Assuming you have ArcGIS Insights installed in you Enterprise Portal, if that is the case, our JDBC connections use TCP/IP connection from ArcGIS Server to the database server name Specified, on the TCP/IP Port number, also specified when creating this connection: Figure 1 Simple JDBC Connection Example This will either be a straight TCP/IP socket for SQL server/Hana, But for Hana as the JDBC driver supports Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection, in which case this is will be used, if the SSL Button is checked when creating the Hana Database connection to communicated between ArcGIS Server and Hana Cloud , the Transport Layer Secure (TLS)/Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol to secure communication between the SAP HANA CLOUD database and ArcGIS Server. Figure 2 Secure Socket Connection Example ArcGIS Insights Desktop, then the JDBC Connection is similar but from the client machine ArcGIS Insights Desktop is installed and the database server: Connection Source: the Client machine location Could be the IP address, when signed in at the office, VPN, or other possible locations the user would be expected to work from TO Connection Destination : Database server. Let me know if this helps answer your question. Feel free to reach out for more information about other specific types of connections relevant to your working environment. A quick work around to access fields that are not supported by Insights; Like PostgresSQL UUID. Is to create a view of the table (with the GUUID) in the Postgres SQL Database, and cast the the GUID column to type text which will make it visible in Insights. These Views can be used to create the For Example: To access a table such as : CREATE TABLE contacts_guid ( contact_id uuid DEFAULT uuid_generate_v4 (), first_name VARCHAR NOT NULL, last_name VARCHAR NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (contact_id) ); Create a View with the script as follows: Create view now_I_see_guid as SELECT contact_id::text, first_name, last_name FROM public.contacts_guid; In Insights search for the view "now_I_see_guid", The table is visible and the GUID column can be used as a text field and can be used in relationships with other views that have UUID fields cast to Text.

I think you are expecting to see shortcuts to Metrics folder, as shown in object browser in MicroStrategy Web. I think you would find these in the public objects folder. Ask your MicroStrategy Administrator for the absolute path of the Metrics folder you are looking for. But it is very likely it would be in the Public Objects_OLD folder. Hope this helps. Cheers

This is possible in the Esri Maps for MicroStrategy plugin available here. View online help on creating a custom location type. I don't know if this is possible in MicroStrategy's in-built ESRI map integration, check the MicroStrategy help for more details.

Hi Christoph, If you are having this issue please contact support, this sounds like an issue that was reported for Esri Maps for MicroStrategy v2.0 and fixed in a patch as well as in the latest release v2.0.1. Please contact support they will be able to help you with this issue. Our last release of Esri Maps for MicroStrategy v2.0.1 does support MicroStrategy 10, but we are currently working on improving the support in MicroStrategy 10, there are some bugs that we are working on resolving, that will be available in the next release which we hope will be available soon, I do not have an official ETA for this release I will keep you posted. Cheers Chaka

Thanks for the review, Christoph. I just wanted make a few points that may be helpful based on your review. Location Architect is only fully functional in reports (i.e. dynamically responsive based on the report dataset). Once this report is created with the visualization enabled, an autogenerated map is created based on the Location Architect configurations. Saving this report and exporting it into a new document allows the autogenerated map to be visible in the document, and can be used to create an interactive dashboard without having to reconfigure or style the map. In documents, the autogenerated maps are no longer dynamic based on the contents of the dataset. The Location architect model is stored in the extended properties of the project. These properties are not easily exportable in MicroStrategy's Object Manager, therefore the example shown in the video is the simplest example. We have future plans to include an improved export mechanism for Location Architect models. With the recent release of MicroStrategy 10, we do have plans to improve support in other operating modes in Microstrategy Web. Our next release will be a localized release that will have some of these improvements specifically targeting performance in Express/Presentation Mode.

If project A is duplicated to Create Project B after location Architect has been configured, the model will be automatically imported into Project B. The only other way of successfully exporting model from Project A to Project B is if all object used to create the Location Architect model in Project A have identical Object IDS in Project A and Project B in this case. Ask your Microstrategy Administrator to help verify the object Id's of the items in your model ensure you backup your models before applying any changes. The simplest way to do this is to Open location Architect in Project A Open browser developer tools Inspect area between save model button and reset model button Once Div showing these buttons is visible expand <div class="column"> Edit Html of last span in this div <span class="dijit dijitReset dijitInline dijitButton" role="presentation" widgetid="dijit_form_Button_2" style="display: none;"> and remove the style setting View/Edit Model button will be visible click this button and and copyJSON text window This is JSON value of the model, this can be saved as a backup of the current project. If Project B is a duplicate of Project A where Objects in Project A have the same ID as Objects in Project B, this model JSON can be used to create an identical model in Project B Open Location Architect in Project B repeat steps 2-6 and paste test copied from Project A, and click apply in the View Edit Model window. Once you have verified the model is correct, you can now save this model
