I have a map that I created in AGOL to track service calls. I need to both edit the features and filter them with the time slider. The problem I am having is that once I add the map service and edit the features the pop-ups are blank in detail view. Then when I switch back to edit view there are no features in the template to edit. I have to completely refresh the map to get it to work again. I don't have this problem with just a feature service I still have the problem when there is no time enabled features. A list of the error producing work flow: Publish a service from .mxd Add both the feature service and map service to a blank AGOL map Click on any feature and see the pop-up Click on the edit button and successfully create or edit any feature Click on the details button Click on any feature and the pop-up is blank (not the "No Information" blank) Click on the edit button and am not able to create or edit any feature ArcGIS for Server 10.1 ArcGIS online Windows 7 IIS SQL express I would appreciate any help on this. Thank you, Ben

Great job fixing how the maps are accessed by the app. Also login works great. Scratch those from the cons list. Another con I have found is that there is no year picker. So if you want to update a date you have to go to December and chose the end dates to switch to the new year, a major problem if the feature is several yeas old. Great work, I can tell this is going to be a winning app.

Howdy, In the demo of Operations Dashboard it shows features moving around the map real time. What does it take to do this? I am using a hosted Location Tracking service on arcgis.com but this doesn't make features move around the map. Any guidance would be great Thanks Ben

Hello Lary, I'm sorry I should have mentioned this in the beginning. I am using an Microsoft SQL Express database (ArcSDE) to store my data, if I were to export it to Excel it would no longer be dynamic. However, are you saying that when you format the time in Excel there is a date picker option in the edit box of arcgis.com? Thanks Ben

Some Things that I did to make things work more smoothly which might solve the problem: I started using DB authentication instead of Windows authentication. I make sure that every time the service is referenced it uses the server IP and not the server name. I make sure that the connection file is using the the server IP. I make sure that the feature service in the map is also set to use the server IP. If I get all those ducks in a row it usually works. If that doesn't, maybe you could provide a little more detail about when you are encountering the problem and what parameters you are using.

Howdy, I need to add hours and minuets in the date field in one of my feature services. When I click on the field I can add the date but there is not time picker (that I can see) and it doesn't allow me to type in the time with the date. Does anyone know how to add time to a date field in arcgis.com? Thanks Ben

Hello, I have created several location tracking services in arcgis.com using my organization administrator login; The services have been working fine but I need to clean them up a bit. Is there anyway to edit the features in mass i.e. delete a large number of old points. What would be ideal is if I could bring the service down to ArcDesktop and use geoprocessing tools on the features. All I can do now is create a local copy for editing, or edit each point one at a time in arcgis.com. Any help would be appreciated. Ben

Howdy, I have been using Collector now for about a month with great success. My company is considering launching the app on a much wider scale which seems to be a good idea, however from previous experiences I have found that new problems come out after employment that weren't caught in testing. I would like your input on pros and any cons (errors) you have encountered while using Collector. I will start the list below, thank you for your input. Pros Easy field collection and update of Feature Services Tracking phones in the field Ability to attach photos to features Ability to navigate to features The ease of updating the app through ArcGIS online The simple interface The ability to use the app on both Android and iOS Integration with Dashboard Cons Can't stream vertices (no polygon and line features) No disconnected editing Limited documentation Difficult sending maps to the phone (no option to import the map from ArcGIS online) No ability to login as a user until the map link is shared

I just got off the phone with ESRI tech support with a solution that worked on our system. Apparently there was something wrong with our DNS service so that it wasn't passing along host names (I don't really understand this part) So there are two options: fix the DNS, which I don't as of yet know how to do, or instead of using the host name when referencing the database use the local machine IP (IPV4 not IPV6). For example: When I wanted to connect to the database in the field "Instance:" I would use "server\GISsql" which gave the error. The way that works is to use the machine IP "192.168.0.555\GISsql" I am sure that is clear as mud, but if you have specific questions I can probably explain it better. Here are the specs of my system so you can see if yours matches up and this solution would work for you. ArcGIS 10.1 SQL 2008 R2 express Windows 7 professional Operating system authentication Way excited that it works!

Do you have the 64bit client libraries installed on the Server? http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#/About_registering_your_data_with_the_server/015400000505000000/ I get the same error using SQL 2008 Express 64 bit. I gave permissions to the arcgis user for the geodatabase I am trying to register as well as to the connection folder. I was able to see and manipulate data when I was logged in as the arcgis user. To simplify testing, the data and the server installation are held on the same computer. What am I missing? I also tried to run the native client installers from the customer care portal and from Microsoft. They both said that "a higher version already exists on the machine" In Sql Server Configuration Manager the SQL Native Client 10.0 Configuration still says (32 bit). How do I change it to 64 bit? Howdy Folks, I am posting about an obscure naming problem that will affect almost no one. When creating a new site for ArcGIS Server 10.1 it would automatically name my machine SOMETHING.THING.ORG which is our domain that I set up through DYN.com instead of SERVER which is the machine's real name. Needless to say this was rather perplexing. Solution (obtained after two days of investigation) Back when my router was lame and didn't support loopbacks I edited the host file on the server to reference itself when using an eternal URL. When seting up a new site ArcInteresting would use the host file backwards to find the machine name. All I had to do was delete the modifications to the host file and the problem was resolved. I hope this helps at least one person but if not.... you're probably better looking then you think you are. Ben

Here is a link to the help on model builder: http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/index.html#/What_is_ModelBuilder/002w00000001000000/ Here is some free training (9.3 but still useful): http://training.esri.com/gateway/index.cfm?fa=catalog.webCourseDetail&courseID=1276 Build your model to mirror what you would do if you were processing the data manually (one tool at a time). You will save a lot of time if you read up on model builder tools (such as iterators); pay attention to parameters, data types, an environments.

I am afraid I don't have the license for Euclidean distance so I wasn't able to test it. Have you tried running the tool outside model builder? In the results pane for geoprocessing you may get some more helpful information. Maybe repost with Euclidean distance in the title and in the tags. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Good luck.
