Hi all, I've been trying successfully to use the Map Printing sample into my application. However, for some reason, even though the LayerDrawingOptions pass to the Map Printing control, it doesn't appear. I added a sample here: I've checked the Map control in debug and it shows it has the LayerDrawingOptions, but still, nothing shows up. Please help. Regards.

Hi, The best way to label these polylines is to use the GeometryService operation LabelPointsAsync to generate the point at which to place the label, then display the text with a TextSymbol. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/runtime-wpf/apiref/index.html?ESRI.ArcGIS.Client~ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Tasks.GeometryService~LabelPointsAsync.html Cheers Mike There is not enough documentation on the subject in this board or anywhere (of labeling). I managed to put labels but I need to wrap them to be snapped to the polylines. The end result of what I want should look like this: Thanks for the reply though. Any other suggestions?

Hi, I'm trying to create a button in my application which will enable me to select a parcel in a parcel layer, then will create labels around the polygon marking the lengths of each side and the angles. I've already managed to calculate the lengths of each side by breaking the polygon of the parcel into polylines, measuring the difference between each ring in the polygon (essentially each vertex). However, I'm completely lost as to how to label these lines with the length I've measured. The easiest solution would have been, ofcourse, if there was some way to use the MeasureAction using the polygon rings as the vertices. However, from what I gather, it's impossible, right? So now I'm left with a way to label those polylines - can anyone help? Thanks in advance, ArielLo.

Ok solved the issue. I accidently referenced some of the dependencies from an older version (1.0) and some from (1.0.1.1) which caused the conflict. Now it works perfectly.

I get this error: Which says the following:
Could not load file or assembly 'ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Local, Version=10.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=29c6dd6e8553d944' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040) And if I try to load ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Local again, it just goes on and on repeating to other referenceses with the same errors. If I replace all of them, it just gives about 40 or so errors.

Hi, I'm trying to use the Map Printing Sample shown here. However, it gives me all sorts of referencing and dependencies issues. I'm using Visual Studio 2010 on a 64bit Win 7. Did anyone manage to run it successfully? Also, is there anyway to run it from the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for WPF Sample Application? I haven't seen anyway to add samples to that application.

Hello. I'm trying to use the UseAcceleratedDisplay property and no matter in what form I use it (either as a property in the esri:Map object or as an object on it's on by puting my layers in <AcceleratedDisplayLayers></AcceleratedDisplayLayers>) it crashes my application. Here is an example of my XAML code: <esri:Map x:Name="MyMap" esri:Editor.SnapDistance="0" WrapAround="True" Margin="1,1,1,0" Height="{Binding Path=LocalSubLayerList}"
Background="White" MinimumResolution="0.001" MaximumResolution="1000" Style="{StaticResource MyMapStyle}"
MouseEnter="Map_MouseEnter" MouseLeave="Map_MouseLeave" MouseClick="QueryPoint_MouseClick" IsEnabled="False" IsLogoVisible="False" AllowDrop="True"
UseAcceleratedDisplay="True">
<esri:Map.Layers>
<esri:LayerCollection>
<esri:ArcGISLocalDynamicMapServiceLayer ID="Layers" x:Name="MXD1" DisableClientCaching="True" EnableDynamicLayers="True"
Initialized="ArcGISLocalDynamicMapServiceLayer_Initialized"/>
<esri:GraphicsLayer ID="SelectGraphic" RendererTakesPrecedence="True" ShowLegend="False"/>
<esri:GraphicsLayer ID="AreaGraphic" RendererTakesPrecedence="True" ShowLegend="False"/>
<esri:GraphicsLayer ID="DistanceGraphic" RendererTakesPrecedence="True" ShowLegend="False"/>
</esri:LayerCollection>
</esri:Map.Layers>
</esri:Map> A note: in the MPK I use, I load both my layers and my rasters, meaning I don't use TPK for loading my rasters. The reason for this is that when I used TPK and MPK seperately, for some reason the GraphicLayers didn't appear in the application. Any ideas?

Do you have joins set up in that mxd? Can you recreate the MXD from scratch to see if the problem is reproducible? Yes, I have a join. When I remove the join, the problem disappears. I will try to recreate the MXD to see if it's reproducible.

Hello, I'm having a problem with labeling parcels which are stored in a feature class inside a feature dataset on an 9.3 sde database, on MS SQL 2008 R2. Whenever I zoom to the extent that the labels are set to appear, I get the following error: The parcels themselves were created in ArcGIS Desktop 10.1, but we still have ArcSDE 9.3 installed in my organization. The problem only occurs on that specific feature class. At first I managed to make it disappear by disabeling the maplex engine, but the problem returned after few times I opened and closed the MXD document. Can anyone think of a solution? Thanks, Ariel.

Ariel, if you need the full geodatabase functionality but can't install the Oracle Client, than yes, your only option is to install and run an ArcSDE Application Server (which isn't a bad thing or so ;)). In this scenario, the connection is called an Application Server connection, so you won't be using Direct Connect. Please note you need to add the following line to your Windows services file of your client PC running ArcGIS for Desktop per installation instructions for the ArcSDE Application Server. Please note this has to be done on each machine connecting to your Application Server!: esri_sde 5151/tcp The Windows services file is simply called "services" without a file extension and in Windows 7 located in: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc Thanks! This is exactly what I did, works perfectly. I have a question though - I've heared a rumor that ESRI will probably eventually stop supporting Application Server Connection, is that true? What is the "recommended" method of connection by ESRI? Thanks again, Ariel.

I have a similar question, regarding Oracle. Some of you here said that if I do not install ArcSDE application on the server, and use only ArcGIS for Desktop, I'll need to install an Oracle Client (32bit ofcourse) on each desktop that will direct connect to the geodatabase via ArcCatalog/ArcMap. However, I need to be able to connect to the geodatabase (direct connection or application connection) via a desktop without an Oracle client installed. For that, I'll need to install the ArcSDE application on the server, correct? Also, will I need to use application connection or a direct connection? Thanks, Ariel.

Hello, I'm trying to incorporate the code from the query example. I created this private sub:
Private Sub QueryButton_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles QueryButton.Click
If QuerTextBox.Text.ToString().Contains("Enter Search") Then
Return
End If
Dim queryTask2 As New QueryTask()
queryTask2.Url = _mapService.UrlMapService & "/2"
AddHandler queryTask2.ExecuteCompleted, AddressOf QueryTask_ExecuteCompleted
AddHandler queryTask2.Failed, AddressOf QueryTask_Failed
Dim query2 As Query = New ESRI.ArcGIS.Client.Tasks.Query()
query2.Text = QuerTextBox.Text
query2.OutFields.Add("*")
query2.ReturnGeometry = True
queryTask2.ExecuteAsync(query2)
End Sub And whenever I click QueryButton I get the following message box: "Query failed: Error code '400': 'Invalid or missing input parameters.'" I tried break point and pressed F10 throuout all the sub. It finishes the sub then immediately goes to QueryTask_Failed for some reason without even trying to go into QueryTask_ExecuteCompleted. Can anyone please help me? Thanks in advance.
