As mentioned previously, many GIS users are familiar with and like using ArcMap. But also, some GIS users do not consider themselves as GIS but have to use GIS for, what they may consider to be, a small part of their job. This is the biggest problem that I can see for ArcGIS Pro. The design of ArcGIS Pro sort of assumes that all ArcGIS Pro users are thought of, by themselves and others, as GIS Professionals who are really interested in GIS and Esri. In reality, this is not always the case and occasional GIS users will not have the time or inclination to learn the much more complex setup and interface. I mean even project folders may be a step too far for people who just want to view a network shape file in a network map document. Maybe ArcGIS Pro Light will be required ?

Hi Tracy and Rebecca, I know this thread is a few years old now, but did you resolve your issues Tracy? We also are experiencing intermittent print issues. We are just using regular Web App Builder in ArcGIS Online and printing a combination of secure (feature layers) and unsecure (base maps) services. Sometimes printing works as expected, sometimes we get ArcGIS Server log errors stating 'Unable to connect to map server at https://utility.arcgis.com......', which is always related to the secure service layer we are trying to print.

Hi. I was wondering, has anybody ever been asked to automatically return search result data to a calling web page based on a mouse click alone (i.e. without the user first selecting anything from any results pop ups that may appear following the search)? I have an identify task that queries multiple layers, including line, point and polygon features. I know how to return result data to a calling page, it is working out if it is possible to select the correct data to return automatically that is making me think. E.g. A user clicks a point on the map. A search (I'm using an identify search currently) queries layers A, B, C, D E. Without any further user interaction , the map automatically returns layer A feature x, layer B feature y, layer C feature z … etc. which correspond to the point click. One or two of the underlying layers are relatable by common attributes, but generally speaking they are not. The feature layers are displayed on the map, so this gives the illusion to a user that they are clicking 'on a feature'. But due to identify searches being based on a map point click (that is, for an identify search, a user clicks a point on the map, not 'on a feature'), and identify search tolerances etc. it seems to me that it is a standard for users to select the features they are interested in following a search, rather than for things to happen automatically (I should add that I would know which feature to return if there were only 1 search result for a particular layer etc.). Also, the way features appear on a map may change depending on the scale the map is viewed at. E.g. a point click on the outer edge of, say, a circular point symbol may appear to be in a different underlying polygon layer feature, depending on the scale the map is viewed at and how close the point feature is to the polygon boundary. Another way of putting it - a point feature's x,y value will always be in the same polygon feature, regardless of scale, but the x,y value of a point click on the outer edge of a point feature's symbol (still a 'click on the feature', from the user's point of view) Is not the same as the x,y value of the feature, so may actually fall within a different polygon feature. There may be other issues. All of the samples I have seen are based on users selecting search result features that they are interested in, and this makes sense to me. I was just wondering if anybody else had ever come across a request to select things automatically? Thanks and regards

Thank you Robert, I hadn't realised that v4.12 does include it's own claro style sheet.

PS sorry I should have been clearer: (they seem to have disappeared) - I meant that dojo themes (claro, tundra etc) seem to have disappeared in v4.12 ? Also, I should have added that I am able to change the content panes content programmatically, it's just when I try to change the content panes title that the tabs disappear. What I'm really asking is an example of how the tabbed info window content 3.x sample should be implemented in v4.12 without using v3.x themes.?

Hello, Does anyone know of a java script v4.12 sample, or created something similar themselves, which is the v4.12 equivalent of the 3.x https://developers.arcgis.com/javascript/3/samples/find_drilldown/ ? The sample above displays tabs inside a 3.x info window, making use of the dojo claro theme. I have managed to create something similar using the v4.12 javascript api, but only by using the claro theme styling from v3.x, which i'm sure is not a good idea. What I have done works fine until I go a little beyond the above sample and try to change the title of one of the content panes inside the tab container programmatically. When I do this , the tabs disappear (when I press F12 to check for errors, the tabs reappear!). As I say, if I don't try to change the content pane title, it works fine, in the same way as the above example. From what I have read I realise I probably shouldn't be using a claro theme to implement tabs with v4.12 (they seem to have disappeared), but this version is still based on dojo and claro is a dojo theme? The v4.12 documentation seems to suggest using third party libraries to implement tabs. Thanks

Hi folks, I have just come across the issue of incremental downloads (or lack of) and think they are not supported in the software and applications I am using (ArcGIS Server 10, ArcPad server extension and ArcPad 10.0). We are now thinking of migrating to later versions to try and overcome this issue. I appreciate the comments above about bugs and the incremental download functionality not working yet, but with the later application versions how are you supposed to turn the editor tracking functionality on, is it a property of the feature service or a setting in ArcPad ? Thanks for the replies.. Jason , l tried something similar by extending the InfoWindowBase class , as in the https://developers.arcgis.com/en/javascript/jssamples/widget_extendInfowindow.html example. I added on(this.domNode, "mouseout", lang.hitch(this, function(){ this.hide(); })); to the InfoWindowBase class in an attempt to add the mouseout event. After doing this an event fires in my page but not with the hoped for results - the infoWindow 'hides' but not when i want it to, sort of more of a mouseover effect than a mouseout. I will try and learn more about domNodes.

Hi, Was wondering if there is a way to assign a mouse out event to a maps infoWindow ? I have added a feature layer to a map and have it so that when a user hovers over one of the features, the infoWindow pops up. Would like to make it so that the infoWindow is hidden when the user 'mousesOut' of the infoWindow. Have tried map.infoWindow.on("mouse-out", function(evt){ map.infoWindow.hide(); }); No javascript error but it doesn't work. Thanks
