Open up the layer in map viewer, select the layer, and in Properties (for layer, not map) there is an enable edit toggle. You will also need to make sure that everything: the map, the layer, and any sharable items... are all shared to who you want to be editing and the group the people belong to if applicable (can't recall if a group is required or not). I believe after you do this you will be able to configure more editing options such as enable editor tracking. You may also have to enable sync, at least if you are using maps in offline mode out in the field. Hope this helps, at least point you in the right direction.

I agree with the comments and advice provided. Create editable hosted feature layer. Add coded value domain for the species list. During layer creation, do not select the option to require a value, or to not permit null values (even though it makes sense in purpose, this selection will hang up and or reject your input records, it can be the issue you are having with unsupported data. Another consideration for your application would be something build in Quick Capture Designer. Quick Capture is a good app to consider for your project, You can link your QuickCapture project to an existing Survey 123 or Field Map. You can hard code the buttons and/or encourage the user to choose "type" by use of a coded value "choice list" which can be made in layer design or when creating choice list.

The GPS data field for "Altitude" is in meters and is not changeable as a setting for storing the data in the record. When the current Units setting is changed in either Field Maps (or Quick Capture) and/or Trimble Mobile Manager the status of altitude is indeed in feet, but when you collect a feature it does not store this value it in feet, it still uses meters, regardless of the settings. This is confusing and defeats what I thought the point of changing units would be to have my data provided in the units specified. I like this idea of having the global "units" setting in FM designer, and suggest that this setting also have the option to "Store values using Application Units", a simple checkbox that could make this possible. If we don't want to loose or modify the "altitude" values currently in stored as meters, then maybe the checkbox could add a new field for the converted data, similar to how the "enable GPS averaging" or "Z-enabled" checkboxes add fields to store data specific to elevation, & GPS averaging. I'm sure it takes a lot to make this happen, thanks for this discussion!

Another configuration would be to enable editor tracking in Map Viewer, which I believe adds the fields: [Creator, Creator Date, Editor, Edit Date] to your feature layer where you want to add/edit features. These fields populate from signed in AGOL or Enterprise Portal user credentials. After you enable editor tracking, to add the fields, you can then configure and utilize the fields in Field Maps Designer form view and elsewhere.

I am putting in a date/time field and want the current time and date of collection, preferably non-editable in our case. Is there a place to enable current date time? Thanks for any help!
