Yea. I just re-ran it, toggled it, closed the map and reopened and no change in the symbology. Was worth checking but no dice.

Darren / Joshua, Interesting test you suggested so I simplified the script and it still runs "successfully" as a script but the symbology doesn't change. When I run ApplySymbology from the python window with the exact same parameters, it runs successfully AND the symbology does change. So, It's a problem with running it from a Script but I still don't know why. SCRIPT After Script is Run (no change in symbology) After Same Parameters are used in ApplySymbology function run from Python Window

Joshua. The name I use "in_fc" indicates I'm picking a feature class but the data type in the tool is "Layer" (I also tried "Feature Layer") and I'm picking one of the layers in the map. I just loop through the layers to check that I have the right map and a layer is found matching the "in_fc" parameter. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks Dan. Yea, I catch your drift on layer/layers. I'll keep searching for a solution and post when I figure it out. For the time it is a bit maddening.

Dan. I took a look at the arcpy.mp help (I think you meant mp, not ma?) and added a map parameter but I'm still missing something. The script below runs but again I don't see the symbology update. Thanks for the help!

I recently switched from Desktop to Pro and totally at a loss of figuring out how to make this very simple script work in ArcPro. Note that it runs and says success but the symbology does not change. import arcpy in_fc = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(0) in_lyrx = arcpy.GetParameterAsText(1) arcpy.management.ApplySymbologyFromLayer(in_fc,in_lyrx)

I'm using ArcGIS Pro 1.4.1 and transferring some arcpy scripts from Desktop to Pro. Odd issue with a simple script that applies symbology. It works when I run it in Model Builder but fails (although says it ran) if I run it as a tool in ArcPro. Anyone have an issue where a Model Builder tool works in the model builder window but not when run as a tool in ArcPro. Thanks, Ryan
