Thanks @TanuHoque and @David_McRitchie, then I know that the custom printer service is unstable even in the "stable" release of ArcGIS enterprise, also, yeah i knew arcmap is dropped for this, but its sad that it was more stable and esri not been doing anything noticable about it since many of the bugs been reported for several years.

We recently uppgraded from ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9.1 to 11.1 that should be Esris "stable" version. Then we noticed we couldnt use our custom printer service that was publiced with arcmap (mxd) documents. so we began trying to publish new services and I have testet versions from 3.1 to 2.9 with different issues, like 3.1 wouldnt run at all, 3.0.3 couldnt publish to folders and so on. But after bunch of tests we got one up that works besides one thing, our Legend element is always visible, even if you choose not to have a Legend or if its empty. and how do I know this? Our Legend is an element on top of a map and it got a white background, so it looks really awful and unprofessional when nothing is populated in the Legend and covering the map. This was never an Issue in 10.9.1 when published from arcmap. and I have tried creating new layouts, in each version ive tested of arcgis pro, but I still ends up with same results, Ive also tried the ESRI out of the box layout and same issue with them. the exportwebmap specification (https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/server/11.1/publish-services/windows/exportwebmap-specification.htm) clearly states this: "legendOptions (optional): Specifies properties of a legend element on the layout. Please note that when a legend element on a layout is found empty (it does not have layer in it), it gets removed by the printing service." wich not seem to be the case, any ideas whats wrong?

Defining projection is an reocurring task for us where we recieve data from external sources and where the projection is often missing or incorrect. Therefore this suggestion to have an option to do this directly from the catalog window. preferably with a choice when you rightclick your dataset. This would boost our productivity for sure. in old arccatalog you could define the projection by pressing preferences and change from there. thats also an great alternative.

@jcarlson though the asked behavior for feature services already exists for mapservices. if I update my mapservice the new layer shows in my map.

Need the ability to set margins (style) for how far the text should be of the edge of the text widget window. right now its on the edge (both sides) and it stops us from using it since it gives a bad experience for the user.

I agree, we need the scroll so it get more userfriendly. Im sad to say most often when i use ESRI software nowadays theres always some small thing that stops us from using it and maybe do something great with it. in the text widget case, scrollbars and the fact that we cant set any margins for the textbox is a problem..because the text goes really close to the edge of both sides...

sure ill try to explain bare with me, english is not my native tongue. also it may be im going about it the wrong way but... im not trying to change a table in the schema. what i would like is if we could publish and use our feature tables in apps in the same manner as we do with featureclasses it would gives us some more options. right now I need to read data from one system from a view, this data cant and should not be edited by the GIS software. what I like to do is add some data (columns) to that data and publish it. this I can do in a mapservice with a join. BUT it cant be done in an featureservice since views are not supported. also even if views was supported it wouldnt help since the way join works I can only edit the data from the left, so it would be the other systems data that could be edited if we had permissions, but that doesnt help us. so i have no good way to get it out to our lightweight users, other than create a feature class for the editing. and then discard the coordinates in my join with the other systems tables. but this will be somewhat confusing for other users than me that set it up.

We need the ability to share sde tables to arcgis enterprise and be able to edit them through enterprise apps. could work with hosted table, if u can use it to join a sde featurelayer and publish it to enterprise again, perhaps its possible in newer versions but our 10.9.1 doesnt allow that.

plz make it possible to have group admins and that they and admins have the ability to share content to groups they are not a member of in enterprise groups. its a big problem when using enterprise groups that you cant share to a group your not a member of as an admin, im amazed we cant do it already (10.7.1)

Enhance the search widget popup options so it can use the layers own popup. For now the search widget creates an own popup by default where it displays all fields in the layer.

did u ever get this fixed? we have same issue with 10.7.1 version. we have enabled logging to see what happens when connecting from arcmap, resulting in this file sde_client_clnt what I seem to see is it does same calls multiple times even though we only have one layer in the mxd. for example the commands below occure 15 times with same results just to connect to one layer... i dont know if its normal or if its not normal or if there is any way to fix it? plz i need help. I think your widget would do everything I want/need for the layer list(toc). what I can see I would be able to get the service metadata and database metadata from the layers (if i reference geodata) the only thing I would like more is to use service metadata in other places, such as the about widget Kevin MacLeod‌ do you have an idea or something where I can upvote implementation of your widget?

Since were spending time to give our services metadata it would be great if we could use it in some way other than view it from the rest api pages. one use i would like is to be able to add some of the metadata in the about widget without having to write it again. for example the description. perhaps theres a better way to implement showing our users specific metadata. but some way other than the rest api to show our users metadata would be great.
