survey123 creation off an exsiting inventory ID

I know I have seen the answer but cannot find it;

Using our existing asset inventory of signs our field team or the public can view a map of inventory and select a sign with a Hyper link that triggers a Survey123. When we trigger the Survey123 from one of the signs it saves the sign's (Sign_ID) into the Survey so we can identify which sign the survey references.

This is important to identify the ID because there might be several signs within the 5 meter radius of a normal GPS tool and we're still using a legacy system for parts of asset management program.

Summary:

User looking at a map to select an asset, when selecting the correct asset, the popup information has a link to survey123 to Report condition, this opens the Survey123 with the Asset_ID value saved into one of the Survey123 fields. Later we can join the reports to the asset inventory via Asset_ID.

Does this make sense or does anyone have a different way to suggest?
