Where do you work and what is your role?
I'm Christina Lindsay and I'm a GIS Analyst from Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District. My current role, along with the rest of the GIS team, is to help the District manage digital District facilities; update other GIS layers in SDE; analyze and geoprocess data, as well as assisting the rest of the District staff with any GIS needs.
What GIS success have you had this year and what product did you use? (big or small - no win is out of bounds)
We are currently updating the Assessor parcels in the western portion of Riverside County to be more spatially accurate. Since we have over 800,000 parcels it's a huge process. We are over 50% done. We have been using the Parcel Fabric to accomplish this task.
What is your expertise (GIS related or not), and how can that help the community?
My expertise is research and working as a team to find the best possible solutions. We have many requests to assist the District and we always try to find the best accommodations for them.
Christina,
Glad to see a Riversider onboard. I wonder whether you could advise, help or possibly mentor me to map 101 GIS coordinates for ponds in NE Thailand? As an example, I was given this data for the ponds =

Question: Where do you work and what is your role?
Hi! I am a Nutrition and Community Services Support Specialist at Arizona Department of Health Services in Phoenix. I support the Women, Infants, and Children Supplemental Food Program (WIC). In this position I primarily do administrative and financial tasks for the program, but occasionally produce maps, such as locations of approved farmers' markets to submit to USDA for our State Plan. However, recently my role has expanded to work one day a week supporting the GIS team. I am creating service area maps for our ground ambulance providers and do manual geocoding for opiod related data.
What GIS success have you had this year and what product did you use?
I completed a GIS internship at Desert Botanical Garden in November 2018 using ArcGIS Pro and the GIS manager provided my registration for me to attend the 2019 Esri International User Conference. Also, now officially doing GIS work regularly for my employer.
What is your expertise (GIS related or not), and how can that help the community?
I started in GIS in 1997 and worked in it until 1999. I had a long break, but took GIS courses in 2000-2001 for my Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography. I built a GIS related website to finish my degree in 2005. My next GIS employment was from 2007 - 2009, but was laid off with the crash in the economy. During this time I earned a certificate in 2D CAD. Finally, started working in GIS in my current position by "volunteering" for it on top of my "normal" job about 2015. I am happy to talk about my progress in getting back into GIS when other life circumstances interfere. I am am planning to jump into ArcGIS StoryMaps right away!
Story Maps are where its at 🙂
Hi Shannon, Welcome to GeoNet!
We hope you enjoyed the User Conference this year. You have an interesting journey with GIS in your career that might be helpful in the Women's Geospatial Forum and Esri Young Professionals Network where discussions around professional development and mentorship are happening. Feel free to share your journey in a blog post as well. See How to Create A Blog for guidance.

Where do you work and what is your role?
My name is Yvette and I am currently a PhD candidate at York University, but live in Alberta. I am currently working on my dissertation and gathering data.
What GIS success have you had this year and what product did you use?
I have been using Survey123 to gather data as it was the only software (affordable and available through the uni.) that allow participants to annotate an image. So far I've loved the wide range of question types available, but am struggling to get Canadians to participate in the study due to the fact the annotation function won't work in a web browser.
What is your expertise (GIS related or not), and how can that help the community?
I am a social scientist who hopes to help other scholars in using online surveys in order to investigate perspectives and attitudes. Survey123 has made that possible!
