Working offline

I understand that ArcGIS collector can be used to collect data points off line. I have a map that works fine if there is a Wifi connection. When I try to use it off-line in a field situation there appears to be no way to save an added data point. Clicking submit is the only option and this will give an error message because there is no internet. Am I missing something that is obvious?

Thanks for your help

Regards

Alan

Hi Alan,.

- What version of Collector are you working with? i.e. includes version number and operating system

In Collector, in order to leverage the offline capabilities when going into areas of no cellular/WiFi connectivity, you must first download the map so that it is accessible when no internet is available. It sounds as if you hadn't downloaded the map and are trying to use the 'online' version when no connectivity is available.

In Collector, when looking at the list of maps, for the map you're attempting to use, do you see a download button, or icon? This will vary depending on the version and operating system you're using with Collector.

It might be that you're map isn't enabled for offline use, and therefore you don't have this option available in Collector

If you're working with Collector for ArcGIS on iOS, please refer to this link in the documentation - https://doc.arcgis.com/en/collector/ipad/help/offline-prep.htm

If you're working with Collector Classic on iOS (which also includes Android and Windows) please refer to this link - https://doc.arcgis.com/en/collector-classic/windows/create-maps/offline-map-prep.htm

Thank you

-Kevin
