Mysterious Orange Dot

We are trying to join this polygon into our parcel fabric after editing the traverse grid. The polygon closes just fine but when we try to join points to the surrounding polygons, the shape and orientation of the polygon changes and pulls the points of the adjacent polygons towards it. We think the funky join has to do with this orange dot that we haven't seen before. We thought it might be a justification point but it doesn't seem to behave like one. When transforming points, the justification is pink and can be moved to other points on the polygon. This orange one isn't moveable. What the heck is this orange dot???

when your join parcel window is active, check to make sure "fabric points held fixed, line points moved to lines" is selected under "use the following method when i click okay" options.

Aha! We never use that so I'm not sure how the selection got switched but it did. Now I understand why my other parcels were getting so messed up too!
