Hi!
I am working with ArcMap, which I just newly installed on my computer. I am trying to use the Feature Class to Feature Class tool in the Conversion Tools part of the Toolbox. For "output feature class," I type in my desired name, CaliforniaCounties, with no spaces or punctuation or extension. But ".shp" is automatically added to the output name every time I click something in the dialog box! So the name can end up with like 3 shapefile extensions! Deleting them does no good, because at least one is always automatically added. The reason this is a problem is that the feature class always fails to be created, giving the error message (error 000354) that the "name contains invalid characters." It seems that this is because of the .shp that is automatically added. How can I fix this problem??
