emergencymap.jpegFor this week's GeoNet Community discussion we wanted to highlight and explore with you an interesting topic and GIS application that was shared by Mike King and Brenda Martinez. Lee County Florida recently took on a project where they mapped over 100 golf courses for their 911 database (Read about it here). The project focused on areas that did not have an address but could be a location of an emergency. In addition to adding the new locations, they located the best routes for responder to get to each location on the golf courses. Now that these golf courses have been mapped, they are reviewing public transit bus stops and public beaches.


What other areas could provide benefit from using GIS mapping to expand standard addressing?
