    GIS has always used the cutting edge of web technologies for user interaction. As HTML5 grows in capability, mobile devices become more popular, and older versions of Internet Explorer are retired, keeping on the edge means moving away from RIA platforms such as Flex and Silverlight and onto web standards using JavaScript. CDM has been in the process of making this transition, and this talk will focus on lessons learned in replicating some of the features of RIA platforms in an open environment, including data binding, consuming services and handling charting.
