Allow admins to rename the folders that hold ArcGIS Server's services (in 10.1).

I used to be able to do this as a config change in previous versions, but in 10.1, it seems you can't change this:
http://myServer/arcgis/rest/services/FolderA/service1/MapServer
to
http://myServer/arcgis/rest/services/FolderB/service1/MapServer

We had a folder called ProductXWorld with numerous services running in it, but as things changed we wanted to change it to just World so it was not product-specific, and it seems this is not doable in 10.1 (according to esri-support) so it was suggested I request the enhancement here.

I could see this being useful for many other scenarios as well. Otherwise, it should be much more critically announced in the documentation that these names are written in stone, so more care is used when designing folder names.

Would like more info from customers on why this needs to be done. Core service folders used by services.

The toolkit does not allow to rename folders.

Why doing it?

Lets say you have your services (many of them) grouped by themes and you just have a theme that is renamed.
How do you just change the folder name without having to create a new one and republish everything

Thank you for your idea. This will not be implemented at this time.
