On-the-fly transformation in measure grid with other coordinate system than dataframe

We are working in ArcMap 9.3 and came across the following problem:

We would like to be able to create and print maps in which we can define a measure grid with another coordinate system (e.g. Transverse Mercator (UTM32N)) than the one used in the dataframe e.g. DHDN_3_Deegree_Zone_4 GCS_Deutsches_Hauptdreiecksnetz)) and the coordinates will be automatically transformed.

It is possible to create a measure grid for the map with another coordinate system however, there is no transformation going on or at least a message from ArcMap that it will not transform the data. The numbers along the grid change but the grid doesn't and hence, you cannot rely on coordinate information from the map as they are completely out of proportion.

The only way to get there is to transform the data in the TOC by changing the properties of the dataframe (to be exact the coordinate system and to choose the type of transformation there). This approach means a lot of work for us because in our situation we would have to do it over and over again and cannot automatize it.

Esri Support suggested to register this topic here in hope that we will find support for it to get it realized in the end.
