I would prefer to set "Show contents of this map" as default instead of "About this map". I think it is more useful for non GIS-professionals, when they open a map an arcgis online the first time(s).

I was able to suggest exactly this.
If we have layers that are default off, we have to provide users with instructions on how to turn the layers on, taking up valuable space in the default tab or on a webpage where the map is embedded.
Allow us to configure the view to hide the details tab or display contents or legend as the default view when a user first views the map.

This would be a very valuable feature for web maps that are reaching out to the general public (non-gis users).
