Marketing GIS to decsion makers

    One of the biggest obstacles that a GIS section of an organization faces is getting the funding approval from their decision makers (Management, Board Members, Supervisors, Directors, etc).  We have found that it is getting harder and harder to get the funding to maintain our current level of GIS achievement.  Therefore, getting additional funding for improvements or advancement in GIS is almost out of the question.  In the past, getting funding for imagery was relatively simple.  Showing the decision makers an image of where they lived or their district would impress them enough to approve GIS funding.  Recently, that same GIS funding was cut in half.  What I am proposing for ESRI is to focus on helping us sell GIS to our decision makers.  Create sessions, classes, papers or whatever it takes to help convince our decision makers to not pass up on GIS and show how important GIS can be to their organization. Please remember that most decision makers have limited time to review proposals before they pass funding judgement.
