When downloading maps for offline use in Collector and Explorer, please give us back the ability to custom select the size and shape of the area that we choose to download.
It would save a lot of time and filesize if we could extract imagery at the extent of a polygon, instead of the rectangular size of the map.
I agree. I have a lot of wasted space in my map areas (large chunks of wilderness) when I only really need small areas along roadsides. I have to download many maps areas to get a chunk of the highway because the highway goes in a straight, skinny line whereas the map area is only in a square.
It would be great if the user could input a boundary layer and the map area could be clipped to it. This would save a large amount of time and file size.
I agree. We have lots of long skinny areas that make sense to work in as a unit, and not many square areas.
Agreed. We work a lot with town boundaries which are never perfect rectangles.
The ability to create custom boundaries for offline areas will be coming to ArcGIS Online and Enterprise (and usable in Explorer and Collector).
