OK in England we have Marmite, you either love it or hate it!

Some years ago the ability to pause a maps display was introduced into ArcMap and this feature has migrated into ArcGIS Pro.

In ArcMap when you pause the display the screen goes entirely grey, a clear statement that map is not being drawn (I love it). In ArcGIS Pro you get what was displaying and the word paused at the top which blends into the background and not at all clear that it has actually paused the display (I hate it).

So my idea is, in ArcGIS Pro when one needs to pause the display, make the whole map go grey or some other colour so its totally obvious that it is paused.

Looks like there are many others who always wanted it to work like it now does in Pro: https://community.esri.com/ideas/2438

But I definitely see what you're saying about the word "Paused"

Here is a great example.

Notice that we do show that the Map tab is Paused and the Pause button is toggled on.  But it sounds like you didn't notice those so we could do a better job making it clear that the drawing is paused.
