It would be a nice feature if it is possible to select multiple "error-features" in ArcGIS Pro Topology error inspector and fix all of them with the same solution (e.g. create new feature) in one step.
At the moment (AG Pro 2.2.3) it does not work.
Now running Pro 2.3.0 and it would be great to be able to apply a global fix to multiple selected errors. Slivers around a target polygon are the worst.
This functionality exists in Desktop, how could they have missed porting it to Pro?
This is a must.
It's possible to fix multiple errors at once using the Fix tab:
This has existed in ArcGIS Pro since version 1.4. The workflow is documented here: Validate and fix geodatabase topology—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop
The fix tab was not available in ArcMap. In ArcMap, you had to make sure you were selecting errors of the same type in order to have the choice to fix multiple errors at once via the context menu.
I hope this helps!
Ugh. My error inspector was collapsed down far enough that I couldn't see the available fixes for selected errors!
But why fixing multiple topology errors of same rule in one go can’t be performed by “right click”?
Could you please consider this as an enhancement request?
I observed that the “explode” fix for the topology error rules fails to fix multiple errors in one go.
Is this a bug?
I'm not reproducing on my end - the Explode fix applies to multiple selected topology errors and ends up exploding multiple selected multipart features into individual features.
I'm not sure how your data/workflow are different. Perhaps a call to tech support so they can help narrow it down?
Thank you Scott for the input
I tried it again but it never ends.
I still can't reproduce with any of my data - so it's probably data specific and needs to be narrowed down by someone from Esri Technical Support.
Thanks Scott for paying attention on this.
The data can be found in the link below in case you have time to have a look
I still can't reproduce with your data. I tested in 2.5 and in our latest daily builds. Here the steps I take to explode all the multipart features in your topology:
I'm not sure what could be going on on your end. That's why I still suggest a call to tech support.
There should be something wrong at my end
Hi Scott Harris,
in the documentation Geodatabase topology rules and fixes for polygon features—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop it's said that "Merge adds the geometry of one feature into the other feature causing the error. You can choose the feature to preserve or apply the fix to all errors."
But when I select multiple errors, the Merge tool is grayed out and it says:
You might want to update the doc :-)
Yet I would love to be able to merge all the overlaps into the larger feature at once (I have several thousands of them)... Is there another way to acheive this?
Thanks for pointing that out! This will be corrected in the doc. So.. remove overlap won't work in your case? Can you explain a bit why? Thanks for any additional details
Thanks for your reply. Removing the overlaps (instead of merging) creates "holes" and multiparts in my dataset.
My use case is the following: I have a buffered street network and I would like to keep one buffer per street segment/street, but without any overlaps. Dissolving by street name doesn't work either, because not every street has a name. Therefore I it would be interesting to have the option to merge all the overlaps into the larger participating polygon, basically the same rule you apply when merging one by one.
The "buffer network" will then be used to calculate the number of intersecting GPS tracks for each segment. But as the calculations are only approximative anyway (it's about getting an idea of the most used roads) I might be able to deal with the holes and multiparts :-)
Thanks for the detailed example and feedback. It makes sense to me. We will need to review our options for providing this functionality.
Could you create an improvement in arcgis idea for this problem?
