Effects Tool + Swipe
In ArcGIS for Desktop this worked on Group Layers.
In ArcGIS Pro it does not. Re-establish / apply this ArcGIS for Desktop functionality in ArcGIS Pro.
Desktop to Pro Feature parity -1 ;/
Ryan Paquette and others who have up voted this idea. What are the steps you're taking that lead to Swipe not working on a Group Layer(s)?
Below I'm showing two feature classes grouped into one layer, and then swiping down with the group layer selected. Both disappear to reveal the underlying basemap as expected.
Within the group, if I select the yellow Blocks2 layer and swipe down, it reveals the underlying purple Blocks1 layer.
If there is something about swiping group layers that isn't working, we'll need to address that as an issue reported to the development team, rather than an idea for functionality that isn't already offered in ArcGIS Pro.
I look forward to your feedback.
OK, after working with this for a few more minutes here is what I see.
1. If you have a tool such as the Explore tool active when you highlight the group layer, when you go to the Layer > Appearance tab, Swipe is grayed out in the Effects group:
2. Workaround: Click on an individual layer > then activate the Swipe tool. With the Swipe tool active, now select the group layer in the Contents pane and you can swipe the group.
The following bug has been logged for this issue: BUG-000109234: The Swipe tool is grayed out for group layers in ArcGIS Pro. The workaround is listed above.
The workaround works
This will keep us all happy until official resolution via BUG-000109234
Cleaning up. It looks like that bug was fixed in Pro 2.2.
