Remember attribute table location, instead of reopening at bottom pane every time. If it was docked on another screen, open it in the same location, just like ArcMap.
Hi D T, Johanna Prussmann, Astrid Lichtenberger, and Vladimir Stojanovic
I don't see the behavior that is described here and that you've up voted.
When I move an attribute table to my second monitor:
Save the project and then reopen the project, the attribute table is where I expect it - in the same place on Monitor 2 as in the image above.
Can you describe the steps that lead to the attribute table "reopening at bottom pane every time"?
Duncan Hornby Please see my comment and question above. I haven't heard from any of the others who up voted this idea, and noticed that you just did. What are the steps that reproduce the attribute table not staying in the same location where it was when the project was saved?
Marked as Already Offered as ArcGIS Pro does remember the last location of the attribute table when the project was saved, and opens with the table in the same location. Per my questions above, if users are experiencing otherwise, please respond here with steps and screenshots, or log a case with technical support.
Maybe he meant that when an attribute table in Pro is closed and then reopened in the same session, it doesn't remember where it was. I was searching for posts about this because I find it annoying that Pro behaves like this. It seems that no matter where you move the table, either floated or docked anywhere but the bottom of the screen, when the attribute table is closed and then reopened, it defaults to the bottom of the screen.
Thanks, Carlos. I just changed this back to Reviewed as it now makes sense. Thanks for the clarification!
Kory, I'm having the same issue too. But I think what he is referring to is this scenario:
1. Table docks to the bottom of the main ArcGIS Pro workspace
2. User un-docks and relocates table to another monitor
3. User decides to open another table from another layer.
4. This table docks to the bottom of ArcGIS Pro workspace
The last step is the problem. Instead of the table opening up in the second monitor (where I already place my first table)...it decides to dock at the bottom of ArcGIS Pro's main workspace. In classic ArcGIS Desktop this doesn't happen...move the table to another screen and no matter what new table I open they all go to that second monitor. And all the tables are docked together nice and neat. I love this workflow, in ArcGIS Pro I have to drag the new table constantly to the second monitor to keep everything together.
Thank you, Jerry. This is helpful!
Although I don't have dual monitors in my test environment of Pro Beta 2.2, I see this same type of behavior on a single screen. If I move an attribute table below the map and then open another attribute table, by default, it opens right on top of the map instead of as another tab of open attribute tables so I need to move the attribute table. It seems like it would be more useful if the 2nd and subsequent attribute tables open as tabs next to the original attribute table. It would then be up to the enduser to move the attribute table from that location if so desired.
Just to add another big thumbs up for this idea. Of course the attribute table can be moved after it becomes docked again but doing this over and over again can get tedious. Hopefully a fix for the next release!
To add to this; Expand docked attribute table width in ArcGIS Pro might also be of interest to those of you who upvoted this idea
Yep, it's a nuisance having to repeat yourself. Seems to be the norm in this "pro" thingy they've invented. What happened to the Ctrl-double-click the layer to open the attribute table? It, too, vanished with this "pro" version. Or how about writing old LYR files? Exporting SELECTED images' paths from a Mosaic Dataset? Its sluggish behavior? It behaves more amateurish than "pro" that's for sure. The ONE thing I like about it is that tables finally open in separate windows again, and not stacked, like in Desktop 10.x. The rest I've seen of it makes me hate it. But I have to eat... :/
Ctrl-Double Click to open attribute table in ArcGIS Pro will be in 2.3
