It would be convenient to open a specific survey from Collector /Workforce.
It would be convenient to open a specific map in Collector from Survey123 or Workforce
For our business needs, it would be great if we could open a specific Survey 123 survey form based on the Workforce Assignment Type.
Hello Sveaskog and Jake,
App links are now available with the most recent releases of Workforce, Collector, Navigator, and Survey123. More information can be found here. As it is currently offered, Workforce for ArcGIS allows project owners to specify which apps field workers can quickly switch between while working in a given assignment.
Would you be able to expand upon the request to open Collector from Survey123? What kind of workflows would this idea improve or enhance?
Thanks for the reply. Our immediate need was to launch specific surveys (Survey123) from a Workforce assignment based on that assignment's assignment_type, not at a Workforce project level, but tied to the Workforce assignment_type. That need has been partially met by the URL schema functionality that was recently released in Survey123. See our use case here: https://community.esri.com/groups/survey123/blog/2016/07/30/understanding-survey123s-custom-url-scheme#comment-39933
I want to switch between Survey 123 and Collector in a seamless way. The idea is that the worker opens a survey in Survey123 from Collector and when she/he is done he returns to Collector in an easy way. Right now he could do it by clicking in the upper left corner in iOS - but all our users isn´t accustomed to switching apps on a mobile device.
Another workflow is when you want to do more complicated collections of lines and polygons - Survey123 is not enough. The possibility to open Collector and do the collection of lines and polygons would increase the usability.
What are the features in Collector that you would like to see in Survey123? Likewise, which features in Survey123 would you like to see in Collector? It sounds like they each have their benefits for your projects, but what kind of common workflow would a field worker need to switch between apps for?
There is another idea I think you would like to check out: Improvement idea for survey123: create lines and polygons. This idea covers the line and polygon collection that you note as one reason to switch between apps.
I must say that the actual implementation works really good because you could send data in the URL from Collector to Survey123 and in the next release of Survey123 in december they will have a more stable integration of Survey123-features in Collector.
I rest my case.
Hi. Thanks for all the suggestions. This feature has now been implemented. In Workforce for ArcGIS you can now define a map/survey to be used for each specific assignment type.
What would be even more fantastic than just opening the correct Survey123 form from Workforce, would be opening an already existing survey that is associated with a workorder. Dispatcher could open multiple survey's associated with an event/location, and a worker would have the ability to review older surveys or complete an in progress survey, while leveraging what makes Workforce useful which is a slick quick easy interface to dispatch and an easy to use mobile worker reminder system.
