It would be extremely useful for geodatabase administrators to add a mechanism which keeps information about unsuccessful login attemps made towards geodatabase. This feature or mechanism would obviously play a vital role in geodatabase security.

For Enterprise GeoDatabases, your DBA can make you this type of auditing from within your SQL database, to log all connection attempts and you can filter on failures. If its a file geo database, you will need something custom.

Hi Frank,
I am not sure about SQL db, but in oracle its not yet traced through auditing. If you have any experience share it with us.
Thanks

There are 2 issues here that need to be clarified
Is it a file geodatabase or a relational geodatabase.
Assuming it's a relational geodatabase then this really should be dealt with by the dba.  This is not a core function of ESRI.
There are several good SQL sites that you can review and select a convenient method of auditing.
With SQL server you can create a trigger DDL that fires on a specific event.
I use this type of auditing quite regularly and have built audit reporting and an automation process to accommodate the audit requirements.
Happy to chat.
Cheers
