Definition Query Distinction in TOC

It would be helpful to have a way to denote in the table of contents that a definition query has been applied to a layer without requiring the user to go into the properties dialog.  Possibly change the color of that layer in the TOC to red, or bold once a def query is detected or applied.  Something to make users cognizant of the fact that a def query is in force.  This would be especially helpful for users that did not create an mxd and may not be aware of the hidden details of that particular document, or to just simply remind users that they had applied a def query in the past.
