Planetary Coordinate Reference Systems There is an interesting but perhaps little-used folder of *.prj files called “Solar System”. As someone interested in geodesy and its application it is particularly intriguing how scientists have constructed coordinate reference systems for planetary bodies other than the Earth.   First off let’s have a look… (Show more)

The ESRI Geology 24k styles is an incomplete set of Geologic symbology based on the fgdc-std-013-2006 standard. Does anyone have a complete set of symbology based on this standard in a ArcMap 10.1 style file?    If not what is the easiest way to edit or modify existing symbols for lithologic textures?    Thanks.

We would like to make sure that the ‘.gdb’ is up to date whenever updates are made to the ‘.mdb’. We wish to use this ‘.gdb’ as a template for ARCMap workspaces, where all the geoscientists have access to up-to-date information.… (Show more)

Currently many geoscientists in the organization have out-of-date files they are using on their personal machines. Currently people work… (Show more)

I've looked at past discussions on here for Microsoft Surface compatibility with ArcMap and there seems to be mixed results almost entirely based on what you want to do.  So I will first describe what I do:   I almost exclusively work in ArcMap, displaying multi-GB planetary datasets (basemaps and DTMs) anywhere from a few MB, to more often ~2-20… (Show more)
