The content editor used everyday when authoring and editing content within GeoNet, also referred to as the RTE (Rich Text Editor) received a massive upgrade with our August 12, 2016 update.

In addition to that, we've modernized the look and feel to a simpler, more usable format following the streamline and modernization theme happening throughout the application.

Full Toolbar

Documents and blog posts still have the full editor you're used to using. @mention and #tag have been added to a prominent, easy to click location.

Syntax Highlighter

Adding code to your content is easier now with the new syntax highlighter editor. You can insert and edit code samples within the editor.  Select the programming language and then insert your code. The code will be formatted accordingly.

Table Editing

Table size selection is quicker and simpler with this new more modern table row/column selector. Just click and drag to the number of columns and rows you want, and the table will appear below in the cursor location in that exact configuration.

Table Controls

Using the out-of-the-box table controls, you have all the abilities you had before to do easy table control manipulation. You can easily

  • edit the table properties

  • edit cell, column, and row properties
  • add, delete, and duplicate rows and columns

You also can easily drag and drop rows and columns to move them around using the tabs along the top and sides of the table. All functionality you had before with table editing is still available today in an easy to get to manner.

Insert Link

There is a simpler, easy to use inline link editor that allows you to do things on the embedded link such as unlink, url editing, auto titling, and opening the url - even when in content edit mode.

Simplified Toolbar

All other content creation areas aside from blog posts and documents will have a simplified, one line button toolbar. We also reviewed what buttons were used the most by users and are actively showing those.

Expand Simplified Toolbar

And if you love your tried and true full editor toolbar, you can still expand the RTE with a button click and have all the functionality you're used to using.
