There are times when your content may be incredibly long. So how do you optimize your content and provide readers with simple navigation to the part of your content most relevant tot he reader?

 

Three Steps for Table of Contents

Use Headers and Subheaders

The content toolbar has a drop-down menu which provides options for different header sizes. Think of your headers as an outline when you use them. Each header level is a level of importance.

Keywords help readers that scan your content find what they are looking for quickly.

Use a Table of Contents

Organization of your content is important. As long as your content has headers the Table of Contents will generate anchor links to each header. Read Best Practices for Writing Content to learn more about creating and organizing content.

  • In the content toolbar, select the More drop-down menu and click on the Table of contents
  • A gray image will appear in your content where the cursor is located. This is the code-generated table of contents. You will not see the Table of Contents outline until you publish your document or Save as a Draft. Each header will be linked based on the level.
