Lead Service Management Data Loading Preview

The Lead Service Management solution was initially released in December 2017. It is designed to help water utilities inform the public about the status of lead in water service lines. In addition to maps for the public to view lead potential, applications can be used internally to report on the status of lead in service lines. This solution can be quickly deployed to ArcGIS Online or Portal using ArcGIS Pro and the ArcGIS Solutions Deployment Tool. Once deployed, your data can be loaded and maps and apps shared with the appropriate people and groups.

Because of the many ways that water utilities can model water service lines, there are multiple ways that you can combine and load your data into the solution. Below is a preview of a data loading workflow. This workflow is designed for utilities who model both the customer-owned and utility-owned service lines.

1. After deploying the solution using the Solution Deployment tool (make sure Copy Sample Data is UNCHECKED), open the attached Project Package in ArcGIS Pro. A subset of the data has been included in the project and allows you to run through this example more quickly, without working with the entirety of the sample data.

2. Make sure you are logged into your organization in ArcGIS Pro where you want to host the Lead Service Management solution.

3. In the Catalog pane, navigate to the Portal tab, and add your Lead_Services feature and Field Verification feature to the current map.
       a. If using ArcGIS Pro 2.0, ungroup the Lead_Services and Field_Verification features. You can do this by right-clicking the features in the Contents pane       and       selecting Ungroup.
      b. Ensure that the Lead_Services feature service is empty.

4. In the Catalog pane, expand Toolboxes and expand DataLoadingModels.tbx. This toolbox contains the following models:

      a. Append and calculate material source of laterals
      b. Calculate Lead Potential
      c. Combine data inputs and create customer and utility lateral lines

5. Double-click “Combine data inputs and create customer and utility lateral lines”to open the model.

Note: This model is assembling the Water Line Laterals, Service Connections, and Parcels feature classes (sample data) into a point feature using spatial       joins.

      a. Click browse next to the wLateralLine_Join field and navigate to the database where you want to save the feature class. Name the feature       wLateralLine_Join and       click save.
      b. Repeat step 5a. for Parcels_Join, wServiceConnection_Join, wLateralLine_CUST.lyrx, and wLateralLine_UTIL.lyrx, making sure to use these names.
      c. Ensure the Parcel_Join feature class has been added to the map after the models completion

6. Now, right-click the “Append and calculate material source of lateral lines”model and select Edit.

NOTE: This model can only be run in “Edit” mode.

      a. On the ModelBuilder tab, in the Run group, click Validate and then click Run
      b. This model is appending the data from spatial join (created from the sample data) to the Lead Services feature service, as well as joining the Field       Verification feature service to the Lead Services feature service using the Account ID field.
      c. Check the Utility Source and Customer Source fields are now populated

7. Right-click the “Calculate lead potential” model and select Edit. This model is calculating the lead potential by using the Select Layer By Attribute and Calculate Field tools and removing the join from the previous model.

NOTE: This model can only be run from the "Edit" view

      a. On the ModelBuilder tab, in the Run group, click Validate to check the model, and click Run if no issues are flagged.
      b. To verify the model ran correctly, check the Utility Side Status and Customer Side Status are now populated.
      c. Once the model runs successfully, the Lead_Service feature class is now ready to be used in your hosted maps and apps.

8. Once you have run the models and populated lead potential in the Lead_Service feature class, learn about how to use the maps and apps provided in the Lead Service Management solution by following the User Guide.
