Important GDPR Updates to GeoNet, the Esri Community

Effective May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a regulation approved and adopted by the European Union (EU), will replace the current Data Protection Directive 94/46/EC and is designed to protect the privacy of personal data for persons within the European Union. The new regulation will be strictly enforced for all websites, communities and social media sites that process user data in the context of goods and services to persons within the EU.

Esri is committed to GDPR readiness and has made a number of changes to various systems to comply.  GeoNet, in partnership with our platform host, is updating the Community and our GeoNet Terms of Use to include required changes enforced by the GDPR. You can read more about user privacy at Esri as well as our overall Privacy Statement.

The GeoNet Community is designed to provide a collaborative place for others to share information and get the support of services for questions, concerns or ideas posted in the Community. As an open online Community, some profile information and content created in GeoNet is viewable publicly and requests to delete user data means the deletion of the account.

What does this mean for GeoNet members?

Beginning May 24, 2018, GeoNet members and non-members entering the site will see a pop-up window alerting that we use cookies to ensure users get the best experience on our website.
