With the release of 10.6, we wanted to share some exciting news about the development cycle for Esri Technical Certification exams. Due to the accelerated and varying cadence of Esri product releases and differences in product versioning, we will no longer use a version-based release cycle for certification exams. Going forward, the Technical Certification program will adopt a development cycle tied to a calendar year. Every 18-24 months, new or updated exams will be considered for release. This approach allows for more effective professional development planning and will reduce the frequency at which individuals need to update their certifications.
We will share more details in 2018 as we finalize dates for our next exam development cycle which should begin in Q3 2018. As we work through these changes we encourage interested candidates to continue to pursue certification at the most recent version available at https://www.esri.com/training/certification-find-exam/. Learn more about the value of certification to individuals and organizations at https://community.esri.com/groups/esri-training/blog/2017/09/08/the-value-case-for-certification.
This new development model will also allow us to more easily explore the addition of new exams or domains – so stay tuned for more exciting news from Certification in 2018!
