We’ve recently heard from a handful of authors about an unfortunate, serious error: While working on a story, they encounter a message that there was a problem saving or publishing their content, and after this they are unable to enter the builder for that particular story.
First, we’d like to deeply apologize to everyone who has experienced this—no one should have to recreate work that was lost through no fault of their own.
Second, we’d like you to know we’re working diligently to prevent this from happening again. We’ve identified that this is an infrastructure-specific problem, and are coordinating with multiple teams at Esri to implement a fix as part of the upcoming releases of ArcGIS Online and StoryMaps.
If you’ve experienced this error, we may be able to help you recover your story, but only if you’ve published it at least once. We’ve successfully recovered stories for a number of authors this way. Unfortunately, we are unable to recover draft stories at this time.
Until we’re able to implement a fix, we’re suggesting that authors publish their stories regularly while working on them, which will provide a recoverable option if the error occurs. We’d like to apologize again for this inconvenience, and will update you as soon as the issue is resolved.
If your story was published and you are unable to edit it, please send a report through the direct product feedback available in the product for assistance. You can also open it on your browser through this link here. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we resolve the error.
